This role involves providing guidance across multiple areas of IT system architecture. Responsibilities may include requirements analysis, system design, performance monitoring, system integration, and security design. The architectural domains may encompass one or more of the following: Application, Data, Security, Infrastructure, or others.Job Description\nWhat NAV CANADA offers you:\nChallenging, team-oriented work environment\nCompetitive compensation and benefits\nDefined benefit pension plan\nOpportunities for growth and development\nFlexible work arrangements\nDiverse and inclusive workforce\nKey Accountabilities:\nContribute to NAV CANADA’s overall Technology program with growing experience and knowledge of specialty systems function and field utilization.\nPromotes and follows the Safety and Quality processes set forth by NAV CANADA within Engineering.\nAssists in the development of the initiatives (projects and lifecycle) from an architecture perspective, and assist in the formulation of new, innovative forward-thinking strategies and plans to address the gaps between the current and future architecture state, to advance operational needs and reduce costs. \nParticipates in planning, providing clear estimations and timelines for when activities and commitment dates will be met.\nKeep abreast of technology trends, best practices and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies in specific areas of architecture specialization.\nParticipates in developing best practices, standards, guidelines, configurations and develops frameworks that support reusable components, where applicable.\nParticipates in designing the governance, assurance and standards activities associated with ensuring compliance. \nParticipates in conducting the research and evaluation of emerging technologies within your specific area of specialization for their applicability to NAV CANADA’s business context along with their functionality and technical capabilities. \nParticipates in technology implementation and modification activities, systems or infrastructure development projects, to harmonize systems or infrastructure with the Operational systems architectures. This may include participating or supporting other team or team members in integration testing, validation and verification.\nDocument architecture solution work including analysis and design work and required supporting material.\nJob Requirements\nEducation:\nGraduation from a recognized university with a specialization in computer, electrical or systems engineering, or computer science, or an acceptable combination of education, experience, and training.\nExperience:\nA minimum of three (3) years of experience in planning, designing, and implementing of ATM or similar 24/7 safety critical systems\nA minimum of three (3) years of experience in interpretation of operational requirements and the development of technical specifications including System Requirements Specifications and Interface Control Documents for a complex project or ATM system.\nA minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in investigating, testing and analyzing systems\nKnowledge:\nKnowledge of engineering principles, standards, and practices. This includes knowledge of system requirements analysis, system design methodologies, configuration management, and system validation process. \nKnowledge of Air Traffic Management or similar 24/7 safety critical systems including its system architecture, application architecture, and other related areas.\nKnowledge of software configuration management processes, practices, tools and techniques.\nKnowledge and hands-on experience using VISIO, JIRA, Azure DevOps, DOORS and similar tools for task management and documentation.\nKnowledge of technology deployment, general networking concepts including protocols, firewalls, routing and switching and their application within enterprise and system integrations. \nAbilities:\nAbility to prioritize and adapt to changing demands, work effectively with minimal supervision, communicate progress to stakeholders, and manage multiple concurrent projects.\nAbility to detect, analyze and correct system deficiencies and/or recommend new actions/process improvements.\nSkill in professional discussions with internal stakeholders and management and with external consultants and industry to ensure that important aspects are not overlooked.\nAbility to design modular system architectures that ensure reliability, scalability, and seamless deployment within a new infrastructure environment.\nAbility to communicate complex technical concepts and details to non-technical stakeholders to facilitate understanding, alignment, and informed decision-making.\nPersonal Suitability:\nInterpersonal skills for effective collaboration with users, architects, developers, testers, Project Managers, and external vendors.\nDedication to staying current with advancements in Air Traffic Management and related fields.\nFlexibility to respond swiftly to changes in requirements, technologies, and priorities within air traffic management.\nDevelops effective and positive interpersonal relationships through respect for others, fairness, tact, effective expression, and open communication.\nDemonstrates initiative, integrity, flexibility, timely judgment, reliability, dependability, thoroughness, service orientation and a positive attitude.\nPromotes teamwork, safety, quality, excellence, achievement, responsiveness, and continuous learning. \nWorking conditions:\nOccasionalTravel required.\nFlexible work arrangements:\nThis position is a hybrid position with a minimum - 3 days per week on site.\nThe work location isthe Ottawa TSC.\nNAV CANADA is committed to building a skilled, diverse workforce reflective of Canadian society.
