This role oversees the full revenue recognition lifecycle in compliance with ASC 606, manages one direct report (Billing Manager), and serves as a technical resource for billing and revenue accounting questions. The Accounting Manager works cross-functionally with Billing, Legal, and Customer Success teams to ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition while maintaining strong internal controls and supporting month-end close activities.\nKey Responsibilities\nRevenue Accounting & Compliance\nOversee all revenue accounting activities in compliance with ASC 606, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, MRR reconciliation, and billing oversight.\nReview and approve sales orders in NetSuite to ensure proper revenue treatment and alignment with contract terms.\nManage the billing terminations process in NetSuite and Salesforce, including timely processing of contract terminations and applicable credit memos.\nServe as the technical resource for the Billing team on ASC 606 questions and complex revenue scenarios.\nCollaborate with Billing, Legal, and Customer Success teams on contract review and revenue treatment for non-standard agreements.\nOwn the revenue close process, ensuring all revenue is recognized accurately and timely each month.\nAssist with accounts receivable reconciliation, allowance for doubtful accounts (AFDA), and other month-end close activities.\nTeam Leadership & Development\nManage and mentor the Billing Manager, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.\nSupport the development of billing processes and best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.\nFoster a collaborative team environment focused on continuous improvement.\nPayroll Processing Backup\nProvide backup payroll processing support as needed, including semi-monthly payroll processing in Paylocity.\nAssist with benefits reconciliations (Aflac, Hartford, FSA, HSA, Cigna, Fidelity, etc.) as needed.\nEnsure payroll is processed accurately and on time in the absence of the primary payroll specialist.\nMonth-End Close & Reporting\nSupport with month-end close activities, including revenue close, AR reconciliation, and journal entries.\nPrepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.\nAssist with audit requests and serve as a liaison to external auditors on revenue-related matters as needed.\nContribute to special projects, system implementations, and process improvements as assigned.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.\nCPA required.\nMinimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.\nSaaS or subscription-based software company experience required, with a strong understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition.\nPublic accounting background preferred.\nExperience with NetSuite, Salesforce, and Paylocity preferred but not required.\nProficiency in Excel and comfort leveraging AI tools to drive efficiency in accounting and billing workflows\nPeople management experience required.\nStrong technical accounting skills with attention to detail and the ability to research complex accounting issues.\nExcellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and explain technical accounting concepts to non-finance stakeholders.\nSelf-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote environment.\nWE OFFER ALL REGULAR FULL-TIME TEAM MEMBERS:\nA fun, fast-paced work environment\n\nResponsible PTO Plan that meets or exceeds state and local medical and family leave laws\n\n11 paid holidays\n\nCommunity and social events to keep you connected and engaged\n\nMental Health Benefits\n\nMedical, Dental and Vision insurance\n\nCompany-paid Group Life Insurance, Short- and Long-Term Disability\n\nFlexible Spending Account & Health Savings Account\n\nAflac Benefits - Critical Illness, Cancer Protection, & Hospital Choice\n\nPet Insurance\n\n401 (k) with company match with eligibility on Day 1 of employment\n\n2 Paid Volunteer Time Off Days\n\nAnd much more!\n\n*Part-Time and Contractor positions are not eligible for company benefits, including paid time off, health insurance, and other employee benefit programs.
