Week 1 hours are 6.30am to 2.30 pm, and Week 2 hours are 1.30 pm to 9.30 pm. These workinghours may vary at certain times of the year to meet the needs of the school and its facilities. \nThe Governing Body is seeking to appoint a dedicated, proactive and highly motivated Caretaker to play a key role in the effective day-to-day management of our school site. \nThe successful candidate will help ensure that our buildings and grounds are safe, secure, well maintained and presented to a high standard. We are looking for an individual who is practical, dependable and able to use their own initiative, with a strong commitment to health and safety and the wellbeing of our school community. \nFlexibility is essential for this role. The successful candidate will be required, on occasions, to provide cover for other members of the site team, which may involve working during the daytime rather than the usual evening hours on Week 2. \nWorking arrangements will also vary during the summer months, when different start and finish times may be required. This may include an earlier start and earlier finish on Week 2, according to the operational needs of the school. \nWe therefore welcome applications from candidates who have a positive and flexible approach to working hours, work well both independently and as part of a team, and demonstrate the skills and personal qualities that will compliment our school culture. \nKey Responsibilities \nOpening and securing the school premises, including responsibility for keys and alarm systems. \nCarrying out daily checks of the school buildings and grounds. \nUndertaking minor repairs and general maintenance. \nIdentifying and reporting defects and arranging repairs where appropriate. \nEnsuring the site is safe and appropriately maintained. \nSupporting compliance with health and safety, fire safety and site security procedures. \nCompleting routine checks and maintaining appropriate records. \nMonitoring heating, lighting and other building systems. \nSupporting contractors working on the school site. \nCarrying out or arranging basic grounds maintenance. \nResponding appropriately to emergencies, including leaks, power failures, security issues and adverse weather. \nSupporting the safe movement of furniture, equipment and deliveries. \nPreparing rooms and facilities for meetings, events and school activities. \nEnsuring appropriate standards of cleanliness around the site and liaising with cleaning staff where applicable. \nSupporting the school with lettings and out-of-hours activities where required. \nUndertaking appropriate training relevant to the role.
