The m7G 5' cap structure of mRNA is one of the defining properties of eukaryotes, yet the evolution of the structure central to protein translation and non-self RNA surveillance has been elusive. This postdoctoral research will be supported by cutting edge research and bioinformatics tools, as well as the expertise of the NEB research community. The successful candidate will enjoy a highly collaborative and intellectually open environment where clear communication of ideas and publication of results are expected.\nHow you’ll contribute:\nConduct foundational research to identify RNA 5' caps across diverse biological systems.\n\nDevelop and apply enzyme- and sequencing-based assays.\n\nPresent and publish novel findings in scientific journals and at conferences.\n\nSupport the supervision of graduate and undergraduate interns.\n\nRequired Qualifications and Experience:\nRecent Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related field.\n\nDemonstrated experience in formulating and testing hypotheses using enzymatic and next-generation sequencing assays (Illumina, ONT).\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.\n\nAbility to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.\n\nRecord of publishing original scientific research in high-quality journals.\n\nStrong work ethic, scientific curiosity, creativity, and self-motivation.\n\nWhat will make you stand out:\nAbility to learn and apply cutting-edge bioinformatics tools for the analysis of genomic and metagenomic data.\n\nExperience in the design and execution of high-throughput experiments.\n\nThis position offers outstanding opportunities for scientific growth in a multidisciplinary environment, including:\nBroad, hands-on scientific training.\n\nCollaboration with academic and industry partners.\n\nPublication in peer-reviewed journals and participation in national and international conferences.\n\n*Submission of a cover letter is highly encouraged\nEstimated base salary for a Postdoctoral Fellow is $74,000\nBenefits at NEB\nBase salary decisions depend on several factors, including, but not limited to, individual qualifications, job location, internal equity, and market data alignment.\nEqual Opportunity Employer, including disabled/veterans\nNew England Biolabs is committed to fostering an inclusive community.
