Our team of 1,500+ includes hundreds of engineers with deep expertise across hardware, software and AI R&D.\nThe role \nAs a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll provide technical expertise for data center mechanical infrastructure, including cooling systems, HVAC, and critical equipment. You'll assess designs, capacity, reliability, and operational readiness to ensure data centers meet performance and scalability requirements. This is a build-phase role for someone who can independently evaluate complex systems while helping establish engineering standards and best practices for future deployments.\nTravel: This position will require on-site presence at data centers.\nYour responsibilities will include:\nLead mechanical engineering evaluations for data center opportunities.\nAssess cooling infrastructure, HVAC systems, and critical mechanical equipment.\nEvaluate air-cooled, liquid-cooled, and hybrid cooling solutions for AI and hyperscale environments.\nProvide mechanical feasibility recommendations and Go/No-Go project input.\nConduct technical due diligence on existing and new data center facilities.\nReview cooling capacity, chiller plants, CRAH/CRAC systems, and liquid cooling readiness.\nEvaluate equipment availability, vendor capabilities, lead times, and deployment risks.\nSupport cooling topology, mechanical design strategy, and equipment selection decisions.\nValidate mechanical design assumptions, capacity requirements, and construction readiness\nPartner with engineering teams, vendors, and consultants to ensure scalable, reliable data center solutions.\nWe expect you to have: \nExperience supporting hyperscale data center or AI infrastructure development.\nExperience with BMS controls integration and mechanical systems commissioning.\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license or similar professional certification.\nExperience evaluating colocation or build-to-suit mechanical infrastructure in a due diligence capacity.\nYou're comfortable operating in ambiguity and building technical evaluation processes where none exist.
