This role will involve a hands-on implementation of the existing standards for new customers and support on-going efforts to improve the monitoring solution.\nThe candidate will combine technical observability expertise with strong analytical and communication skills, enabling them to deliver meaningful insights and guide the organisation toward a mature and proactive monitoring posture. This an ideal role for someone looking to leverage their experience and drive solutions within the NEC Local Government and Central Government enterprise environment.\nMain Responsibilities\nMonitoring Solution Maintenance\nConfigure agents, collectors, and monitoring probes. \nManage upgrades, patches, and platform maintenance. \nMaintain platform availability and performance. \nContinuously evaluate alerting thresholds, dashboards, log retention policies, and data quality. \nMonitoring Design & Implementation\nDesign monitoring solutions for modern technology and application implementation. \nRefine monitoring standards and onboarding processes. \n Create application, database and server monitors based on new requirements from products or customers. \nProvide inputs to refine monitoring thresholds and improve existing policy standard. \nEnsure monitoring meets security and compliance requirements. \nEnsure new implementation integrates with existing ISM tools, reporting dashboards, etc.\nService Improvement\nDrive continual service improvement initiatives. \nReview monitoring effectiveness. \nIdentify monitoring gaps. \nRecommend new observability capabilities. \nStakeholder Collaboration\nEngage with application owners, infrastructure teams, NEC product SMEs, and service managers to understand operational needs. \nSupport knowledge transfer and create documentation to upskill teams on observability usage and maintenance. \n Qualifications\nEssential Skills/Experience:\nProven experience in an Observability Engineer, Monitoring Specialist, SRE, or Platform Engineer role. \nStrong knowledge of monitoring, logging, and alerting across Industry standard tools like Splunk, Datadog or similar. \nHands-on experience instrumenting applications with metrics, logs, and traces. \nStrong understanding of: \nInfrastructure (on-prem and/or cloud) \nNetworking basics \nDatabase technologies \nAPI integrations \nAbility to analyse complex systems and communicate clear, actionable recommendations. \nExperience with automation (PowerShell, Python, Terraform). \nDesirable Skills\nKnowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change). \nExposure to public sector or local authority environments. \nKnowledge and/or experience to ManageEngine is a plus \nKnowledge and/or experience of AI Ops and AI Ops implementation approach \n We are proud of the benefits we offer employees of NEC Software Solutions\nPrivate Medical Cover funded by NEC for Employees (with the option to add family members at an additional cost)\n25 days paid holiday with the option to buy/ sell \n4 x basic salary life assurance cover funded by NEC (with the option to increase cover at an additional cost)\nA Group Pension Plan with fantastic employer contributions up to a maximum of 8.5%\nA fantastic selection of flexible benefits to suit your individual needs\nWe are an employer who cares, we have a invaluable employee assistance programme which can help in every area of your life\nAll colleagues get free access to LinkedIn Learning.
