You will work closely with delivery teams to translate requirements into high-quality technical architectures that can be built, operated, and supported with confidence.\nThis is a hands-on role working closely with delivery teams. Technical Architects at NEC stay closely involved in implementation, providing practical guidance, supporting teams through delivery, and ensuring solutions meet both functional and non-functional requirements.\nThe role suits someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working across infrastructure and cloud platforms, and collaborating with others to deliver reliable outcomes.\nProducing technical architecture designs for corporate platforms and customer solutions across on-premise, data centre, and public cloud environments.\nEvaluating architecture and design options, making evidence-based recommendations that balance functional and non-functional requirements.\nWorking closely with delivery teams to support implementation, including knowledge transfer and hands-on assistance where needed.\nParticipating in the architecture peer review process, helping maintain high design quality across the practice.\nPresenting technical designs to the Technical Assurance Board and supporting assurance discussions with specialist knowledge.\nContributing to technology roadmaps, investigating new and existing technologies to enable controlled adoption.\nCollaborating with Security Architects to ensure designs provide appropriate protection for workloads.\nMaintaining awareness of emerging technologies, platforms, and industry trends relevant to NEC’s services and customers.\n You’re likely to be:\nA Technical Architect with strong infrastructure, platform, or cloud experience, or\nA senior engineer ready to step into a formal architecture role.\nYou’ll bring:\nProven experience producing technical architecture designs.\nStrong understanding of compute, networking, storage, virtualisation, and cloud technologies.\nConfidence balancing delivery pressures with design quality and long-term sustainability.\nThe ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nExperience working within the UK public sector, with platforms such as Azure, AWS, or OCI, and technologies such as server virtualisation, networking, and storage, is highly valued.\nWhy join us?\nWork on a wide range of interesting and technically challenging solutions.\nStay close to delivery while operating within a mature architecture governance framework.\nBe part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary architecture team.\nDevelop your career with opportunities to progress into senior or enterprise-level architecture roles.\n We pride ourselves in offering an excellent benefits package, including an above average pension scheme.
