Job Vacancy: Maintenance/Handyperson (Must be a driver with clean licence & vehicle)
Location: Bromley Park Care Home in Beckenham, South East London BR3 5PA
Contracted hours:40 hours (some weekend work when required)
(Hourly) rate of pay: To be discussed depending on experience and qualifications
Are you a practical, hands-on person with experience in painting and decorating and general property maintenance?
We are looking for a reliable and proactive Maintenance/Handyperson to join our team and help keep our Care Home safe, well-maintained and looking its best for our residents.
The perfect role for you
You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the home and grounds, dealing with day-to-day repairs and ensuring that any potential hazards or defects are identified and addressed.
A key part of this role will be maintaining the appearance of the home, including painting, decorating and general redecoration work.
A maintenance, building services or trade qualification would be desirable, as would previous experience within a care home or similar environment.

The Maintenance/Handyperson responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Painting and decorating, including room redecoration and general touch-ups
- Carrying out routine repairs and general maintenance
- Basic plumbing, joinery and plastering where appropriate
- Maintaining fixtures, fittings, furniture and equipment
- Handling driving duties and errands for the home
- Carrying out regular health and safety checks and keeping accurate records
- Assisting with fire safety, water temperature checks and other required maintenance checks
- Maintaining the grounds, including grass cutting, pruning and general upkeep
- Keeping storage areas, entrances and fire exits safe, clean and tidy
- Identifying and reporting defects, hazards and repairs requiring specialist attention
- Supporting the Home Manager with deliveries and other practical tasks
- Working respectfully around our residents, maintaining their privacy, dignity and wellbeing at all times
