Conducts inspections and security assessments to protect associates, visitors, and facilities, and keeps security records and documentation current.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Access Control: Administer electronic badging systems, manage user permissions, and conduct access review.\n2. Surveillance & Alarms: Monitor, configure, and maintain video management systems and intrusion detection alarms.\n3. Vendor Coordination: Partner with third-party technicians to install, test, and repair security hardware.\n4. Inspection & Audits: Conduct routine physical building checks and security vulnerability assessments.\n5. Compliance & Records: Maintain safety logs, visitor tracking protocols, and up-to-date facility security documentation.\n6. Site Safety: Serve as site safety, coordinating emergency response, safety inspections, and associate safety awareness for the facility.\n7. Complete miscellaneous tasks and projects as assigned to support Nelnet.\nEDUCATION:\nRequired - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the security field.\nCERTIFICATION & TRAINING (to be completed within 6 months of hire):\nRequired:\nSecurity system platform training (badging/access control and video management) as provided by Nelnet or the system vendor\nNelnet emergency response and incident escalation training\nPhysical security fundamentals certification (e.g. ASIS or equivalent), if not already held\nOther certifications or trainings as assigned.\nEXPERIENCE:\nCloud-based camera systems, including camera configuration, footage review and export, and user permissions.\nBasic networking concepts for IP-based security devices (IP addressing, PoE, and network connectivity troubleshooting).\nIntegrating access control, video, and alarm systems into a single security platform.\nWorking with security integrators and vendors on installs, upgrades and service calls.\n- Honeywell security systems access control (badge credentialing, door schedules, alarm and event monitoring, and reporting) preferred.\nHoneywell intrusion and alarm panels and related monitoring preferred.\nCOMPETENCIES/SKILLS:\nAbility to lift and carry 50 pounds.\nAbility to push, pull and manipulate loads up to 100 pounds\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods as required.\nAbility to work on a computer for extended periods of time.\nAbility to respond to on-site security and alarm events, including outside of normal business hours.\nValid driver’s license and reliable transportation as required for travel between sites.\nAccess control and video management system proficiency\nVendor Management\nAttention to detail and accurate Documentation\nProblem solving\nService excellence\nManaging multiple priorities\nExcellent oral and written communication skills\nWorking with Microsoft Office products\nAbility to learn new systems quickly\nOur benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, HSA and FSA, generous earned time off, 401K/student loan repayment, life insurance & AD&D insurance, employee assistance program, employee stock purchase program, tuition reimbursement, performance-based incentive pay, short- and long-term disability, and a robust wellness program.
