Your career awaits.\nPosition Summary:\nWe’re looking for a curious and motivated Automation QA Intern to join our QA Engineering team for an 8-month in-person co-op starting in January 2027. In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience writing and testing automation scripts for real software projects. You’ll collaborate with QA engineers and developers in a supportive, DevOps-driven environment that values learning, mentorship, and quality.\nThis internship is ideal for students building foundational automation and QA skills, offering guidance, real-world exposure, and the opportunity to grow within modern QA practices.\nCompensation: $23/hr.\nThis is an in-office role based out of our Mississauga location with a requirement is to be in the office 5 days per week.\nAdditionally, this position requires the successful completion of a Government of Canada Reliability Clearance (PERC) as a condition of employment. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain the required clearance throughout their employment.\nThis position is for an existing vacancy within our organization.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDevelop and maintain basic automated test scripts for web and API testing using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Postman, with guidance from QA engineers.\nExecute test scripts to validate new features and bug fixes across multiple environments.\nLog and track defects found during testing and collaborate with QA engineers and developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.\nReview project requirements and test cases to understand testing scope and identify automation opportunities.\nAssist in updating and organizing test documentation, including test cases, test data, and test results.\nLearn and apply version control practices using Git to manage and update test scripts.\nParticipate in team meetings and various ceremonies to gain exposure to Project and DevOps workflows.\nSupport QA engineers in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).\nActively seek feedback, ask questions, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and quality improvement.\nRequired Qualifications:\nCurrently enrolled in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related undergraduate program.\nBasic understanding of programming concepts (e.g., C#, JavaScript, Python, or Java), gained through coursework or personal projects.\nHands-on experience writing simple scripts or test cases-through labs, assignments, or personal exploration.\nAbility to write, read, and debug simple code with support from the team.\nFamiliarity with object-oriented programming principles and basic understanding of test frameworks or unit testing.\nInterest in software testing, automation, and quality assurance.\nStrong attention to detail and willingness to learn.\nEffective communication and collaboration skills.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExposure to automation tools or frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright).\nFamiliarity with Git or other version control systems.\nLearning Outcomes:\nGain practical experience in automation testing and QA processes.\nWork with enterprise-level tools and CI/CD practices.\nReceive mentorship from experienced QA professionals.\nContribute to meaningful projects that impact product quality.\nNelnet is committed to providing a welcoming and respectful workplace where all associates have the opportunity to succeed.
