This role provides direct leadership to Material Handler I, II, III associates, and Material Handler Leads while partnering with Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Transportation, Customer Service, Procurement, Engineering, SAP Support, and Inventory Control to ensure uninterrupted material flow and customer fulfillment.\nWarehouse Operations Leadership\nDirect and supervise daily warehouse operations, including receiving, put away, replenishment, picking, shipping, staging, and inventory control. \nDevelop labor plans that align staffing with production requirements and customer demand. \nMonitor operational KPIs throughout the shift and balance labor resources to maximize efficiency. \nRemove operational roadblocks quickly and ensure warehouse execution supports Manufacturing, Quality, and Customer Service. \nPeople Leadership\nDirectly supervise Material Handler I, II, III associates and Material Handler Leads. \nConduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, attendance discussions, and performance improvement plans. \nRecruit, interview, onboard, train, and develop warehouse associates. \nPromote accountability, engagement, and professional conduct across the department. \nBuild succession plans for future Leads and Supervisors. \nSafety Leadership\nFoster a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and Neogen safety requirements. \nConduct routine safety observations and lead incident investigations involving near misses, injuries, and unsafe conditions. \nEnsure corrective actions are documented and completed. \nVerify compliance with PIT certifications, PPE, GMP, Lockout/Tagout, and warehouse safety standards. \nStop operations immediately when safety or quality conditions present unacceptable risk. \nInventory & Quality Management\nMaintain overall inventory accuracy and ensure SAP S/4HANA EWM transactions accurately reflect physical inventory. \nOversee inventory adjustments, root cause analysis, and warehouse audits. \nPartner with Inventory Control and Quality to resolve discrepancies and implement corrective actions. \nEnsure FIFO/FEFO compliance, lot and batch accuracy, expiration-date control, and complete product traceability. \nOperational Excellence\nDrive Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives that improve warehouse throughput, labor utilization, inventory accuracy, and organization. \nReduce transaction errors and eliminate operational waste through standard work, data review, and root cause analysis. \nLead approved improvement projects and promote sustained team adoption. \nTraining & Workforce Development\nEnsure associates complete all required safety, quality, process, equipment, and SAP EWM training. \nMaintain training matrices and verify associate competencies through observation and work validation. \nDevelop Material Handler III associates into future Leads, develop Leads into future Supervisors, and support cross-training across warehouse functions. \nCross-Functional Leadership\nPartner with Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, Transportation, Customer Service, Procurement, Engineering, SAP Support, and Inventory Control. \nResolve operational issues before they impact production schedules, inventory integrity, or customer shipments. \nCommunicate department status, material risks, staffing constraints, delays, and recovery plans to stakeholders and leadership. \nCompliance & Documentation\nMaintain compliance with OSHA, FDA, GMP, ISO, Neogen SOPs, warehouse work instructions, and SAP EWM governance. \nMaintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready records and documentation. \nSupport customer audits, internal audits, and regulatory inspections; ensure findings are addressed promptly. \nFinancial & Business Performance\nMonitor labor productivity, overtime, equipment utilization, inventory losses, warehouse expenses, and department KPIs. \nRecommend staffing, equipment, layout, and process improvements to warehouse leadership. \nUse operational data to establish priorities, improve performance, and support business objectives. \nSkills and Competencies - Required\nBachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and warehouse leadership experience. \n5-8 years of warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or distribution experience. \nMinimum 2 years of direct people-leadership experience. \nAdvanced knowledge of SAP S/4HANA EWM or a comparable Warehouse Management System. \nStrong understanding of inventory control, FIFO/FEFO, warehouse operations, Lean principles, and root cause analysis. \nStrong coaching, leadership, communication, conflict-resolution, and decision-making abilities. \nAbility to lead effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing and distribution environment. \nPreferred Qualifications\nAPICS or CPIM certification. \nLean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. \nExperience supporting FDA, ISO, customer, or regulatory audits. \nSAP S/4HANA EWM Super User experience. \nChange Management and Project Management experience. \nWhy Neogen\nAt Neogen we believe that taking care of our employees allows them to do their best work.
