AI / ML Engineer (Healthcare)

We are looking for a highly skilled AI Engineer with strong healthcare domain experience, particularly in revenue cycle management (RCM) and healthcare data workflows. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building GenAI/ML solutions for healthcare, with a strong understanding of HIPAA compliance, healthcare data privacy, medical coding, claims, billing, and revenue cycle processes.

The candidate should have strong expertise in Python, LLMs, LangChain, RAG, vector databases, prompt engineering, and Azure AI services, combined with the ability to develop enterprise-grade AI solutions for healthcare use cases. Experience working with healthcare platforms such as EHR/EMR systems, EPIC, healthcare claims, ICD/CPT/HCPCS codes, medical billing, and RCM workflows will be highly preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop AI/GenAI solutions for healthcare and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) use cases.
• Build intelligent applications for claims processing, medical coding, billing, payment reconciliation, denial management, eligibility verification, and revenue cycle optimization.
• Develop document querying, healthcare text search, information extraction, classification, and summarization solutions using Python, LangChain, LLMs, and RAG.
• Build and optimize vector indexing, embeddings, semantic search, and similarity-search pipelines for healthcare data.
• Integrate LLMs such as OpenAI GPT-4o, Mistral, Gemini, and other enterprise AI models into healthcare applications.
• Develop AI-powered reasoning agents and workflow automation for healthcare and RCM processes.
• Implement prompt engineering techniques to improve accuracy, consistency, and reliability of AI outputs.
• Work with Azure AI services, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and other Azure cloud services to deploy scalable AI solutions.
• Develop APIs and integrate AI solutions with EHR/EMR, healthcare applications, claims systems, databases, and enterprise platforms.
• Work with healthcare data while ensuring adherence to HIPAA privacy and security requirements and organizational data-governance policies.
• Develop solutions for processing and analyzing healthcare documents such as claims, medical records, invoices, EOBs, prior authorization documents, and billing documents.
• Work with healthcare coding and terminology such as ICD-10 CPT, HCPCS, and related medical coding concepts.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases for healthcare data storage, indexing, retrieval, and analytics.
• Collaborate with healthcare domain experts, data scientists, software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
• Contribute to taking AI solutions from prototype/POC to production, including at least one enterprise-grade healthcare AI solution going live.

The core requirements for the job include the following:

AI / GenAI:

• Strong hands-on experience with Python and AI/ML application development.
• Strong experience with LLMs, LangChain, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, and semantic search.
• Experience with OpenAI, Mistral, Gemini, or similar LLM platforms.
• Strong understanding of prompt engineering, AI agents, reasoning workflows, and LLM application development.
• Experience building and deploying production-grade GenAI/ML solutions.

Healthcare and RCM:

• Mandatory: Healthcare industry experience in developing or implementing AI/ML/data solutions.
• Strong understanding or hands-on experience with Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management (RCM).
• Experience with one or more RCM processes such as claims processing, medical billing, denial management, payment posting, eligibility and benefits verification, prior authorization, accounts receivable, charge capture, coding, and documentation.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 CPT, HCPCS, and healthcare terminology is preferred.
• Experience working with EHR/EMR systems such as EPIC is an added advantage.
• Understanding of healthcare data standards, workflows, and interoperability is preferred.

HIPAA and Healthcare Data Security:

• Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance is required.
• Experience developing or implementing AI/data solutions involving Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Understanding of healthcare data privacy, security, access control, data masking/de-identification, and secure handling of sensitive healthcare information.
• Ability to design AI solutions with privacy, security, auditability, and compliance considerations.

Cloud and Engineering:

• Hands-on experience with Azure AI services and Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, APIs, and cloud-based AI services.
• Strong experience with SQL databases and working knowledge of NoSQL/graph databases such as Cosmos DB and Neo4j.
• Experience developing and deploying robust REST APIs for AI and data applications.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, Docker, and modern software development practices is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience delivering AI/GenAI solutions in healthcare production environments.
• Experience with healthcare claims, RCM platforms, EHR/EMR systems, or healthcare analytics.
• Experience integrating AI solutions with EPIC or other healthcare enterprise platforms.
• Knowledge of FHIR, HL7 or other healthcare interoperability standards.
• Experience with healthcare document processing, OCR, NLP, or medical text analytics.
• Experience taking at least one AI solution from POC to production/go-live.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and healthcare business stakeholders.
