We believe in creating an inclusive culture, giving everyone the confidence, direction and support to grow and improve.\nDue to the operational requirements of the role, candidates must live within approximately one hour's travelling distance of the Havant office.\nThe successful candidate will also be required to obtain and maintain appropriate Security Check (SC) clearance.\nRole Description\nWe are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Support Engineer with strong hands-on experience across both AWS cloud environments and traditional on-premises datacentre infrastructure.\nThis is a genuine hybrid infrastructure role. AWS experience is an essential requirement and candidates must be able to demonstrate previous practical experience designing, deploying, supporting and troubleshooting AWS infrastructure across a range of AWS technologies and services.\nYou will support and maintain the core infrastructure underpinning our network management and operational platforms, covering both cloud-hosted and on-premises environments.\nThe role includes deploying new infrastructure solutions, maintaining and improving existing platforms, monitoring availability and performance, carrying out preventative maintenance and resolving complex infrastructure faults.\nYou will work closely with other infrastructure, security, network and application teams to deliver projects, resolve incidents and continually improve the resilience and security of our platforms.\nSecurity and regulatory compliance are fundamental to the role, including adherence to ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and Telecoms Security Act requirements.\nEssential AWS and Hybrid Cloud Experience\nStrong practical AWS experience is essential for this position.\nApplicants should be able to demonstrate significant previous experience administering and supporting production AWS environments rather than simply having theoretical knowledge or AWS certification.\nWe are particularly interested in candidates who have worked across several areas of AWS, for example:\nEC2 and associated compute services\nVPCs, subnets, routing, security groups and network connectivity\nIAM, roles, policies and access management\nS3 and cloud storage services\nAWS backup, recovery and resilience\nCloudWatch, logging, alerting and monitoring\nAWS Systems Manager\nLoad balancing and high-availability architectures\nAWS security services and security best practices\nConnectivity between AWS and on-premises environments\nMigration or transformation of workloads between datacentre and cloud environments\nTroubleshooting complex issues spanning cloud, networking, operating systems and applications\nCost, capacity and performance optimisation within AWS\nYou do not need to have worked with every AWS service listed above; however, you must be able to demonstrate substantial hands-on AWS experience across multiple areas.\nExperience working within a hybrid cloud environment, integrating AWS services with on-premises infrastructure, is essential.\nKey Accountabilities\nInfrastructure Delivery & Maintenance\nEnsure the availability, security, resilience and performance of both AWS-hosted and on-premises infrastructure.\nSupport, administer and troubleshoot production AWS environments.\nAssist with the architecture, design, deployment and ongoing maintenance of cloud and datacentre infrastructure.\nSupport applications, servers, operating systems, networks, storage, backup services and associated infrastructure.\nSupport connectivity and integration between AWS and on-premises environments.\nAutomate repetitive infrastructure and operational tasks to improve efficiency, consistency and reliability.\nImplement and maintain effective infrastructure monitoring, alerting and security controls.\nCarry out capacity, performance and availability monitoring and identify opportunities for improvement.\nMaintain accurate infrastructure documentation.\nMaintain the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and IT Service Catalogue to ensure infrastructure information remains accurate and current.\nParticipate in an out-of-hours standby rota to support critical incidents, planned maintenance and other operational requirements.\nCompliance & Security\nEnsure infrastructure is operated in accordance with applicable security and regulatory requirements, including ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and the Telecoms Security Act.\nWork closely with the Security Team to implement and maintain appropriate technical security controls.\nApply secure configuration standards and industry best practice, including CIS Benchmarks where applicable.\nEnsure cloud and on-premises systems are appropriately patched, hardened, monitored and protected.\nSupport vulnerability management, remediation and security improvement activities.\nApply appropriate identity, access and privilege-management controls across cloud and datacentre environments.\nProject Delivery\nSupport infrastructure projects from initial design and planning through to implementation and operational handover.\nProvide technical input into infrastructure architecture and design decisions.\nAssist with cloud migrations, infrastructure upgrades and technology refresh programmes.\nWork with internal teams, suppliers and third parties to ensure projects are delivered successfully.\nEnsure new infrastructure solutions meet operational, security, resilience and supportability requirements.\nSkills and Competencies\nEssential Skills\nCandidates should have strong experience across a number of the following areas.\nAWS / Cloud Infrastructure -
