Reporting to the VP, Accounting, you will lead the day-to-day close, manage our US and international audits, help us build a scalable pricing, packaging, and billing engine for our multi-channel business, serve as a senior technical accounting resource, and build the processes and team that keep us audit-ready year-round, not just at year-end. This is a role for someone with technical depth, sound business judgment, and a bias for building. We welcome both experienced Controllers and standout Assistant Controllers ready to step into their first Controller role.\nWhat you'll do\nClose & Financial Reporting\nOwn the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, driving continuous reduction in close cycle time while maintaining accuracy \nReview account reconciliations, journal entries, and flux analyses; ensure clean, GAAP-compliant financial statements \nPrepare and review financial reporting packages for the board, PE sponsor, and lenders, including covenant compliance \nTechnical Accounting\nApply US GAAP to complex SaaS and usage-based transactions, including ASC 606 (revenue recognition), ASC 340-40 (capitalized commissions), ASC 718 (stock-based compensation), ASC 805 (business combinations), and ASC 842 (leases) \nAccount for revenue across our multi-channel business (direct, partner and reseller, and marketplace), including principal vs. agent, gross vs. net, and channel incentive considerations \nDraft and maintain technical accounting memos and accounting policies \nEvaluate the accounting impact of new contracts, pricing models, and strategic transactions, including M&A \nAudit & Controls\nLead the consolidated US audit as primary liaison to our Big 4 auditor; manage PBC lists, timelines, and year-round audit readiness \nOwn audits at key international entities, including the UK and Germany \nDesign, document, and monitor internal controls with a SOX-readiness mindset and drive continuous improvement \nCoordinate tax compliance with external advisors, including sales/use, income, and international \nGlobal Payroll & Compliance\nReview and ensure compliance for US payroll and international Employer of Record (EOR) services across all countries where Nerdio employs people \nTeam Leadership\nLead, coach, and develop the accounting team (GL, revenue, AP, payroll, and related functions) \nSet clear expectations, build succession, and foster a culture of ownership and accountability \nSystems & Process\nAct as a champion for our finance tech stack (NetSuite, Ramp, FloQast), driving automation and efficiency \nIdentify and implement process improvements, including AI and automation tooling, to scale without proportional headcount \nPricing, Packaging & Billing\nBe a key finance partner in building a nimble pricing, packaging, and billing solution that lets us launch and change offers quickly without breaking the close \nTranslate new pricing models and channel structures into scalable billing, revenue recognition, and reconciliation processes, working closely with Product, RevOps, and Systems teams \nEnsure billing data flows accurately and consistently from each channel into NetSuite and the financial statements \nCross-Functional Partnership\nPartner with FP&A, Revenue Operations, Legal, Sales Ops, and HR on forecasting, deal structures, and compensation accounting \nSupport finance integration for acquisitions and new entities \nContribute to the accuracy and understanding of SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, churn) alongside GAAP results\nQualifications\nBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance\nActive CPA license\n8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2-4 years in a Controller role, or a strong Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager ready for a first Controller role\nStrong command of US GAAP, with demonstrated SaaS revenue recognition experience (ASC 606)\nExperience managing and developing accounting teams and supporting external audits\nExceptional analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills\nPreferred skills\nBig 4 or national public accounting firm experience\nExperience in a PE-backed company, including sponsor and lender reporting\nHands-on experience with NetSuite, Ramp, and FloQast\nMulti-entity and international accounting experience, including foreign currency and local statutory audits\nM&A and purchase accounting experience\nSOX or SOX-readiness experience\nBenefits and Incentives\nCompetitive Base + Annual bonus up to 10%\nStock Options\nHealth and Welfare Plans*\nLife and Disability Plans*\nRetirement Plan*\nUnlimited Flexible Paid Time Off......including your birthday off!\nCollaborative Team Culture\n* Benefits for international employees, outside the US, vary by country.\nNerdio is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
