AI-assisted development is part of everyday engineering.\n\nWhat you will do\n\nLead and mentor a team of 3–6 engineers while staying hands-on: at least half of your time is production code\n\nShape the architecture of a new event-driven backend and own technical decisions in your area\n\nOwn code quality: code reviews, testing standards, secure coding practices\n\nBuild reliable integrations with banking and payment providers — idempotent, traceable and easy to reconcile\n\nMake sure the solution meets security and regulatory requirements, including PCI DSS\n\nCreate and onboard AI powered SDLC process and help the team adopt them with clear rules for review and testing\n\nDeliver features end to end, from technical design to production support\n\nBreak down scope, estimate and plan delivery together with Product Manager\n\nBe the main technical point of contact for client stakeholders\n\nWhat you bring\n\n7+ years of commercial backend development with Java (17+) and Spring Boot\n\n2+ years as a Tech Lead or Team Lead of 3+ engineers, while still writing code\n\nFinTech background is mandatory: commercial experience on banking, payments or lending products\n\nProduction experience with asynchronous, event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SNS/SQS or similar)\n\nSolid knowledge of concurrency and transactions: ACID, isolation levels, optimistic and pessimistic locking\n\nStrong relational database skills (PostgreSQL preferred), JPA / Hibernate\n\nExperience integrating external APIs and providers: retries, timeouts, idempotency, consistent error handling across layers\n\nDesigning secure public APIs for external integrations: authentication, authorization, platform boundaries\n\nArchitecture know-how: DDD, Clean or Hexagonal architecture; you can design a system from scratch and defend the decisions\n\nHands-on AWS (or another major cloud), Docker and CI/CD, including API versioning and database migrations\n\nStrong testing culture: unit, integration and contract tests (JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers)\n\nDaily use of AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot or similar): you can show how they speed you up and how you check their output\n\nEnglish B2+ (Upper-Intermediate or higher): you will lead technical discussions with the client\n\nNice to have\n\nCard issuing or processing: ISO 8583, authorisation, clearing and settlement, reversals, chargebacks\n\nVisa or Mastercard integrations and scheme certification\n\nPCI DSS in practice; HSM, key management, tokenisation for digital wallets\n\nLedger systems and double-entry accounting\n\nBank transfer and direct debit integrations (SEPA or other domestic payment rails)\n\nKotlin, Kubernetes, Terraform;
