The Senior Project Manager, Engineering plays a critical role in delivering safe, compliant, and value-creating capital projects that support Nestlé’s manufacturing operations.This role is responsible for the end-to-end leadership of complex, high-value capital projects, extending from early conceptual studies through execution, commissioning, and project close-out. The role provides technical leadership, project governance, and stakeholder alignment while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with Nestlé standards and regulatory requirements. Note: this position is an existing vacancy.\nKey Responsibilities\nCapital Project Leadership\nLead large and complex capital investment projects from feasibility through project close-out.\nDevelop capital project requirements and business cases to secure funding approval.\nLead conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering design using Early Management / TPM methodology.\nResolve project conflicts and risks proactively across multiple priorities.\nProject Controls & Governance\nOwn scope, schedule, cost, risk, and change management per Nestlé Capital Governance.\nMonitor project performance and implement corrective actions as required.\nEnsure accurate forecasting, project accounting, depreciation tracking, and financial close-out.\nCommunicate project status to stakeholders from shop floor to senior leadership.\nSafety, Quality & Compliance Leadership\nChampion Environmental, Health & Safety (SHE) through all project stages.\nEnsure compliance with Good Engineering Practices, GMPs, building codes, and legislation.\nPartner with Manufacturing, SHE, and Quality to deliver compliant technical solutions.\nTechnical & Engineering Oversight\nMaintain accountability for User Requirement Specifications (URS), procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification, verification, and final handover of capital assets.\nProvide senior technical oversight across electrical, automation, processing, packaging, utilities, and infrastructure projects.\nOversee application of Factory Automation Systems (FAS), MES, PLC, HMI, robotics, and digital manufacturing solutions where applicable.\nContractor & Stakeholder Management\nLead and manage engineering consultants, system integrators, OEMs, contractors, and suppliers.\nInfluence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority, ensuring alignment with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and Procurement.\nEnsure compliance with Nestlé Procure-to-Pay, contractor safety, and supplier management standards.\nCapability Building\nMentor and coach Project Engineers and junior Project Managers.\nDrive continuous improvement in project delivery practices, technical standards, and execution discipline.\nWhat Will Make You Successful\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, or related discipline.\nProfessional Engineer (P.Eng) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation strongly preferred.\n8+ years of progressive engineering and project management experience in food, confectionery, ice cream, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environments.\nDemonstrated success delivering complex, brownfield capital projects in live manufacturing operations.\nExperience leading electrical, automation, packaging, processing, utilities, and building construction projects.\nTechnical & Professional Expertise\nStrong knowledge of electrical and controls systems, including single line diagrams, PLC architectures, HMI systems, P&IDs, controls networks, and digital manufacturing infrastructure.\nHands-on experience with Factory Automation Systems (FAS), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), PLCs, HMIs, motion control, and industrial robotics.\nWorking knowledge of utilities systems such as refrigeration, compressed air, boilers, and natural gas systems.\nProficiency with engineering and project tools including MS Project, AutoCAD, SAP (procurement and project transactions), and MS Office applications.\nSolid understanding of project accounting, depreciation, capital expenditure tracking, and project close-out.\nLeadership & Behaviours\nDemonstrated safety leadership with a strong commitment to Environmental, Health & Safety excellence.\nExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capability.\nStrong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.\nAbility to successfully manage multiple projects in parallel within a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.\nAlignment with the Nestlé Leadership Framework, demonstrating accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.\nMobility & Flexibility\nAvailable for domestic and international travel to lead and support critical project phases, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), supplier engagement, and cross-functional stakeholder coordination across global vendors.\nFlexibility to support key project milestones, including shutdowns, commissioning, and off-hours work as required.\nWe have a friendly, supportive team with a coaching and mentoring environment.
