You will partner with Engineering and Operations, as well as systems and ONTAP engineering, hardware and supply chain, finance, product marketing, and field sales, to keep NetApp's systems competitive, deliverable, and aligned to customer needs.\nThe role carries both strategic and operational responsibility: shaping multi-generation platform roadmaps and positioning while driving active NPI programs, managing generation transitions, and maintaining lifecycle discipline across a broad, high-revenue portfolio.\nScope: ONTAP systems platforms (controllers/platforms, portfolio positioning, generation transitions, and related lifecycle). You will partner closely with Engineering, Operations, ONTAP software PMs, Technical Marketing Engineering, and Product Marketing. You own platform strategy and lifecycle outcomes; you partner on adjacent software, marketing, and enablement work rather than owning every related product line end-to-end.\nJob Responsibilities\nProduct strategy and roadmap\nOwn and continually refine the ONTAP systems platform strategy, aligned to NetApp's Enterprise Storage strategy and competitive requirements\nDevelop and maintain multi-generation platform roadmaps with Engineering and Operations, with clear prioritization across performance and capacity tiers, form factors, and technology transitions\nDefine positioning and swim-lane guidance across the portfolio to reduce field ambiguity and improve deal velocity\nTrack business and transition metrics (adoption, capacity growth, and $/GB economics) and translate them into roadmap, packaging, and pricing actions\nNew product introduction and lifecycle management\nLead concurrent NPI programs across platforms and components, driving requirements, prioritization, and cross-functional execution with Engineering and Operations through all lifecycle phases\nDefine clear, well-structured product requirements for planning, Engineering, and Operations, aligned to launch schedules and customer commitments\nOwn product lifecycle discipline across the portfolio, including EOA/EOL strategy, stocking and configuration optimization, and sustaining strategy for shipping systems, working closely with Operations and Engineering\nCustomer, market, and competitive requirements\nGather and synthesize requirements from enterprise customers, the field, and partners to inform platform priorities and design decisions\nOwn competitive positioning against key enterprise storage vendors, translating gaps into requirements, roadmap actions, and field guidance\nConvert customer and market needs into product requirements, business cases, and prescriptive positioning that connect platform investment to win rates and revenue impact\nGo-to-market and field enablement\nPartner with Product Marketing so platform advancements show up in messaging, workload solution stories, and field enablement\nDevelop platform packaging, configuration guidance, and field-facing documentation that support consistent, scalable selling and deployment\nMonitor adoption, deployment, and quoting friction signals; drive corrective actions that improve customer time-to-value, coordinating with Engineering and Operations as needed\nCross-functional leadership\nServe as a primary point of accountability for the platform across Engineering, Operations, supply chain, finance, marketing, and field sales\nPartner day-to-day with Engineering and Operations leaders to align requirements, schedules, capacity, quality, and launch readiness\nCommunicate strategy, roadmap, and tradeoffs clearly to executive leadership and field organizations\nInfluence platform-level decisions that span multiple product lines and generations\nA clear, multi-generation platform roadmap that Engineering, Operations, and the field can execute against\nConcurrent NPI programs delivered with high-quality requirements, prioritized tradeoffs, and on-time launch readiness through close partnership with Engineering and Operations\nPortfolio swim-lanes and positioning that reduce field ambiguity and quoting friction\nLifecycle plans (including end of availability / end of life (EOA/EOL) and sustaining) that protect customer commitments and business economics\nCompetitive gaps translated into requirements, roadmap actions, and field guidance that improve win rate and adoption\nTrusted partnership with senior leadership, Engineering, and Operations on roadmap, transitions, and platform-level tradeoffs\nJob Requirements\n8+ years of product management or technical product planning experience in enterprise infrastructure, storage, or related hardware/software domains\nStrong understanding of enterprise storage systems and architectures, including NAS and SAN protocols and modern data center infrastructure\nProven experience leading complex NPI programs through the full lifecycle: concept> requirements > development > GA > sustaining \nExperience driving cross-functional execution with Engineering, Operations, supply chain, finance, and go-to-market teams\nStrong communication and executive presence, with the ability to represent complex platform tradeoffs clearly to senior stakeholders\nPreferred\nFamiliarity with NetApp ONTAP or comparable unified storage data services, and how platform hardware enables performance, density, and supportability\nExperience with storage economics ($/GB), capacity/performance tiering, and platform generation transitions\nDirect competitive experience against major enterprise storage vendors\nExperience positioning storage for AI, virtualization, mission-critical databases, and other enterprise workloads\nExperience creating field-facing packaging, configuration guidance, or enablement content\nDemonstrated success partnering closely with Engineering and Operations on complex platform programs\nEducation\nBachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience preferred.\nCompensation:\nThe target salary range for this position is 196,350 - 292,600 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. The range is based on 'On Target Earnings’ (OTE) representing the total potential earnings, which is the sum of the base salary and potential commission earned when performance targets are achieved. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package.
