As a Technical Operations Engineer, you will be part of our TechOps team maintaining and supporting our large fleet of cloud-hosted Apache Cassandra, Kafka, OpenSearch & other open-source technology clusters. Every day will raise interesting and challenging problems ranging across many different areas such as fleet management, customer support, operation, and incident response. You will be working alongside other teams including Product Management, Development Teams, and Customer Success to help drive and shape the way we support our customers.\nEssential Functions\nProvide expert operational support to our nodes running in the cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) leveraging a background in Linux administration, Docker, and languages including Java, Python and Bash.\nRespond to customer queries and incidents, diagnosing and solving complex technical issues by liaising with customer engineering teams on Apache Cassandra, Kafka, OpenSearch, and other supported technologies while maintaining a high standard of customer communication.\nInvestigate issues and apply standard change and maintenance procedures to optimize the performance and stability of production systems.\nUndertake complex cluster operations such as migrations, upgrades, and maintenance on our fleet.\nDevelop and continually improve our suite of internal automation tools, applications, documentation, processes, and procedures.\nBe a proactive, reliable, and supportive member of the TechOps team and participate in a 24/7 rotating shift roster.\nJob Requirements\nStrong knowledge and experience with Linux and be comfortable working from the command line. This is essential, there are no GUIs here.\nGood fundamental computer science / software engineering skills and knowledge, particularly operating system internals, resource management, and networking.\nPrevious experience working with databases and/or open-source techs (managing standard tasks, handling production issues, performance tuning) in a support role.\nProgramming skills in Python, Bash scripting, SQL, and source code control using Git.\nExceptional ability to communicate clearly and professionally in written and verbal English is essential.\nDemonstrated ability to multitask.\nPassion for all things IT, and especially open source.\nAny customer service experience is favorable.\nEducation\nTypically requires a Bachelor of Science or MasterDegree in Engineering or Computer Science\nTypically requires 3-5 years of relevant experience.\nCompensation:\nThe target salary range for this position is 100,300 - 149,600 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package.
