You’ll ensure our systems are reliable, secure, and performant while enabling engineers to ship quickly and confidently.\nThis role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, networking, and backend systems. You’ll work closely with engineering teams to design and operate the platform that powers secure, peer-to-peer connectivity for users around the world. Specifically, you will:\nDesign, build, and operate scalable cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code for NetBird's globally distributed management and relay services.\n\nDevelop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support rapid, reproducible, and safe delivery of backend and client components.\n\nOwn service reliability: implement observability (metrics, logs, tracing), lead incident response, and drive postmortems with actionable improvements.\n\nCollaborate with backend and networking engineers to optimize routing, connectivity, and overall system performance.\n\nBuild internal tooling and automation to improve developer experience and support NetBird's open source ecosystem.\n\nIf you read this far and think: \"that's me!\" - You probably won't need to read any further, and we should have a conversation. But if you doubt the type of experience we expect you to have, the following should help clarify.\nWhat we are looking for\nWe’re looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys solving complex networking challenges, and cares deeply about building reliable systems for real users.\nMust-Haves\n5+ years in Platform Engineering, SRE, or DevOps roles\n\nStrong experience operating production systems on AWS, GCP, or similar\n\nHands-on with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi) and Kubernetes\n\nExperience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines\n\nSolid networking fundamentals (IP, routing, NAT, DNS)\n\nExperience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and production incident response\n\nStrong sense of ownership - you see problems through from detection to resolution to prevention\n\nThrive in a fast-paced environment and comfortable working independently\n\nNice-to-Haves\nExperience working with WireGuard or VPN technologies.\n\nFamiliarity with peer-to-peer networking and NAT traversal techniques (e.g., STUN, TURN, ICE).\n\nExperience operating globally distributed systems with low-latency requirements.\n\nExperience with gRPC and REST-based services.\n\nBackground in security best practices for networked systems.\n\nContributions to open source projects.\n\nExperience supporting or interacting with developer communities via GitHub or similar platforms.\n\nExperience optimizing infrastructure for cost and performance at scale.\n\nWhat’s in for you\nWe know that happy and supported team members build the best products.
