Come be a part of what’s next.\nThe Team\nPrivacy & Data Protection Engineering (PDPE) at Netflix ensures responsible data use and provides confidence that privacy and security risks are managed across the company. Within the PDPE organization, Privacy Infrastructure Engineering (PIE) partners cross-functionally with its peer groups (Privacy Engineering) and collaborates with teams across Netflix.\nPIE drives privacy and data protection across the data lifecycle by developing, evaluating, and implementing privacy protective solutions. This includes building and onboarding of horizontal privacy solutions, automation of privacy rights management, and privacy/data protection risk measurement and mitigation, whether these tools are developed internally or sourced from external vendors. They closely collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders spanning Data Platform Infrastructure, Data Sciences Engineering, Security, Legal, and Product teams.\nThe Role\nWe’re looking for an Engineering Manager for PIE to lead a team of software engineers and privacy engineers to implement, develop, and maintain privacy protective features and tools to meet regulatory requirements while driving data enablement for the business. You will partner with PDPE leadership to define and execute a consumer-centric approach for data collection, consent, and privacy controls, seamlessly integrating these solutions into our complex data ecosystem. Given the scale of the organization, this role will require development of strong partnerships across disciplines to develop solutions that add value for the organization and enable the product teams to focus on their core offerings by abstracting foundational privacy needs. \nDesired Background and Skills\nProven leadership experience in managing software development teams and building privacy and/or security solutions, preferably in a large scale, data driven environment\n\nDeep understanding of privacy and security frameworks, data classification, data protection controls, and records retention\n\nStrategic and pragmatic thinking for product strategy roadmaps to improve existing tooling for privacy rights management, metadata catalog management, and scaling privacy solutions across the enterprise\n\nCoach and manage high performing teams by providing feedback in an inclusive and growth-oriented manner to help individuals achieve their professional goals\n\nComfort with driving technical decisions in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment with competing priorities\n\nPrevious experience as a hands-on individual contributor, bringing deep technical credibility and practical insight to leadership decisions\n\nDefine and track program metrics, report progress to leadership and stakeholders, and continuously seek feedback to improve program effectiveness.\n\nSystem design and full stack development background with ability to delegate and empower team members with ownership\n\nBuilt tools for consent management, data use limitations, and/or data protection controls across the data life cycle\n\nEffective cross-functional collaborator with a demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships and prioritize privacy initiatives across engineering, product, legal and security teams\n\nGuide the development and rollout of scalable automation, dashboards, and user experiences for data classification, retention, and access control\n\nDemonstrated experience using structured discovery of privacy gaps to inform prioritization and justify investment in mature privacy remediation programs\n\nExperience with GenAI being a force multiplier for scaling privacy and data protection\n\nGenerally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $510,000.00 - $752,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location.Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
