Come join us!\nJob Summary:\nWe’re looking for a Junior Post Engineer to join our Post Engineering team in Vancouver. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in post, AV, or VFX environments who wants to deepen their technical engineering skills in a high-end animation studio.\nYou’ll be a front-line post engineering resource for our editorial suites, story and review rooms, and our screening theatre. You’ll help ensure our specialty spaces are robust, predictable, and technically sound - from day-to-day operations and Tier 1 support through to screenings, production reviews, and special events.\nThis role includes a strong focus on:\nTroubleshooting complex specialty spaces(review rooms, theater, multi-screen/multi-channel environments)\n\nOperating and supporting Q-SYS-based room control and DSP\n\nUnderstanding and maintaining SDR and HDR colour pipelinesfor review and screenings\n\nThis role requires occasional evening and weekend work, particularly around screenings, special events, and critical production milestones.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nEditorial, Review & Theater Support (Tier 1)\nProvide Tier 1 troubleshooting and operational support for:\nEditorial suites (Avid Media Composer)\n\nStory and Review Rooms\n\nTheater and other specialty screening spaces\n\nAudio suites (Avid Pro Tools)\n\nDiagnose and resolve first-line issues related to:\nAvid Media Composer and Avid Pro Tools\n\nAutodesk RV and other VFX/animation review tools\n\nQ-SYS-controlled systems (routing, presets, room states, monitoring)\n\nPlayback systems, operator workstations, and peripherals\n\nPerform basic verification of audio/video signal flow and KVM paths; identify when to escalate to more senior engineers.\nClearly document issues and escalate complex problems to the Post Engineering team and cross functionals with relevant details, logs, and reproducible steps.\nScreenings, Reviews & Events\nSet up, operate, and tear down for:\nInternal screenings and dailies\n\nProduction reviews in our theater and review rooms\n\nExternal screenings, previews, and Q&A sessions\n\nOperate and support:\nXenon-based digital cinema projectors\n\nQ-SYS (or similar) audio/room automation systems\n\nPlayback, presentation, and basic routing of audio and video content\n\nEnsure correct colour space, dynamic range, and format are used for each screening (e.g., SDR vs HDR, Rec.709 vs P3), flagging inconsistencies or mismatches.\n\nPartner with Production, Editorial, Facilities, and vendors to ensure events start on time and run smoothly.\n\nMedia Systems & Workflows\nSupport day-to-day operation of media and review systems used in animation and VFX pipelines, including:\nAvid editorial workflows\n\nAutodesk RV and other review tools\n\nAssist Post Engineering team with:\nRoutine checks and basic maintenance of theaters, review rooms, and editorial systems\n\nVerifying and troubleshooting audio/video signal flow and KVM paths where required\n\nOperations, Documentation & Collaboration\nPerform regular room and system health checks; log issues, resolutions, and follow-ups\n\nContribute to and maintain documentation of room configurations, standard operating procedures, and common troubleshooting steps (e.g., within Jira, Confluence, or similar tools)\n\nWork closely within Post Engineering, Technology, and Production teams to ensure stable, predictable, and artist-friendly environments.\n\nProvide calm, professional support in live, time-sensitive scenarios such as screenings and reviews.\n\nParticipate in off-hours maintenance and event coverage on a rotational or as-needed basis.\n\nWhat You’ll Need:\nExperience & Background\n2-3 years of experience in a similar role within AV, Post Production, Broadcast, or VFX/Animation environments.\n\nHands-on experience supporting theaters, screening rooms, edit suites, or review spaces.\n\nStrong familiarity with animation or VFX post-production workflows (editorial, reviews, dailies, deliveries).\n\nCore Technical Skills\nWorking knowledge of:\nXenon digital cinema projectors (operation, calibration and basic troubleshooting)\n\nQ-SYS or similar room automation / DSP systems\n\nAvid Media Composer and Avid Pro Tools in a shared or networked environment\n\nAutodesk RV and related VFX/animation playback tools\n\nSolid understanding of:\nAudio and video signal flow (routing, patching, monitoring)\n\nBasic networking concepts (IP addressing, connectivity, basic diagnostics)\n\nMultiple operating systems, with emphasis on Rocky Linux; exposure to macOS/Windows is a plus\n\nComfort with other VFX/post software and willingness to learn new tools as needed.\n\nSoft Skills\nProven ability to troubleshoot OS and application issues at a Tier 1 level.\n\nStrong customer service mindset and clear, concise communication with non-technical users.\n\nDetail-oriented with the ability to follow and improve documentation and standard procedures.\n\nAbility to stay composed and effective in live events and high-pressure situations.\n\nWillingness to work evenings and weekends as production and event schedules require.\n\nCollaborative, curious, and eager to grow into more advanced post engineering responsibilities.\n\nNice to Have\nExperience in colour workflows and colour management, including:\nWorking with calibrated displays and digital cinema projectors\n\nUnderstanding of colour spaces and transforms (e.g., SDR/HDR workflows, PQ, HLG, Rec.709, P3)\n\nPerforming or assisting with calibration of projectors and reference displays\n\nExperience working in HDR environments (review, QC, or finishing).\n\nExposure to digital cinema standards (e.g., DCP), and SDR/HDR review workflows.\n\nFamiliarity with video routing and KVM systems.\n\nPrevious experience in a feature animation or high-end episodic VFX studio.\n\nThis role is based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
