In this role, you will design and build secure, performant, and user-friendly Windows applications that enable access to critical cybersecurity features, including Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), VPN, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and other advanced network security capabilities.\nAs a Senior Windows Desktop Application Developer, you will work closely with backend, security, and product teams to deliver a seamless desktop experience integrated with NETGEAR’s security services. You will play a key role in ensuring that our application meets high standards for security, usability, and performance, and in setting the technical direction for the Windows client.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDesign, develop, and maintain secure and high-performance desktop applications for Windows as part of NETGEAR’s security platform.\n\nDesign and implement advanced networking features such as VPN connectivity, secure tunneling, and ZTNA access using native Windows capabilities and VPN protocols like IPSec or WireGuard.\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams including backend engineers, product managers, UX/UI designers, and QA to define and implement desktop features.\n\nEnsure applications follow security best practices, protect user data, and comply with Windows guidelines for application signing, sandboxing, and secure installation.\n\nWrite clean, modular, and testable code; own unit and integration test coverage using .NET test frameworks such as xUnit or NUnit; and drive automated testing and CI/CD pipelines for the desktop client.\n\nConduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and uphold strong engineering standards across the team.\n\nStay current with the latest trends in Windows desktop application development, networking, and endpoint cybersecurity.\n\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.\n\n5-8 years of professional experience in Windows desktop application development (C#, .NET, Win32, WPF).\n\nHands-on experience with PowerShell scripting.\n\nHands-on experience with Windows networking APIs and system-level frameworks, including Windows Filtering Platform (WFP) and WinINet.\n\nExperience integrating certificate-based authentication, Windows Hello / biometrics, or OS-level security APIs.\n\nFamiliarity with VPN protocols such as WireGuard or IPSec, and experience implementing secure tunnels or endpoint network clients.\n\nProven experience with Windows application packaging, code signing, and deployment tools (e.g., WiX Toolset, MSI, MSIX, ClickOnce) for both enterprise and public distribution.\n\nStrong understanding of desktop security practices, including secure storage, encryption, sandboxing, Windows Credential Manager / DPAPI integration, and user authentication.\n\nProven experience designing and maintaining automated test suites with .NET test frameworks such as xUnit or NUnit, including mocking and test-coverage practices.\n\nExperience working with backend APIs and service-based architectures.\n\nProficient in debugging, profiling, and performance optimization of Windows desktop applications.\n\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in agile and cross-functional teams.\n\nPreferred Qualifications (optional):\nFamiliarity with cross-platform desktop frameworks such as Electron, Qt, or Flutter Desktop.\n\nExperience with enterprise deployment and endpoint management solutions such as Microsoft Intune.\n\nHands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for desktop applications (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, TeamCity), including crash reporting and telemetry via platforms such as Sentry or App Center.\n\nCompany Statement/Values:\nAt NETGEAR, we are on a mission to unleash the full potential of connectivity with intelligent solutions that delight and protect.
