Working with a high degree of independence, you will drive medium to large technical initiatives that span mobile, embedded, and cloud systems, influence the design of complex parts of the codebase, and help raise the engineering bar across the team.\nWe are looking for someone with deep platform expertise and, just as importantly, a customer-centric mentality, a strong sense of ownership and autonomy, and high-quality standards. AI-augmented development - using AI tools for code generation, automated test generation, and code review - is a core part of how you work, not an occasional aid.\nYou will also mentor other engineers and help shape a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.\nResponsibilities\nDesign and develop features across NETGEAR's Android applications, with a focus on scalability, performance, and usability\nTake ownership of medium to large initiatives end to end, coordinating with cloud and embedded counterparts to deliver cohesive product experiences\nOwn the quality of your features end to end, including hands-on testing and building automated test coverage (unit, integration, and UI)\nApply sound engineering judgement to solve complex problems in the codebase, and propose improved methods and approaches\nLead architectural discussions and help shape the technical direction of the app\nOwn and improve best practices, including code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and DevOps workflows (e.g. GitHub Actions)\nBring a can-do, solution-focused mindset to team challenges, and actively seek out new tools, ideas, and ways of working\nMentor and support engineers across the team, acting as a technical leader and force multiplier\nSet clear objectives and deliver measurable results aligned with quarterly goals\nQualifications\n8+ years of Android development, with strong Kotlin and Java experience, including technical leadership on cross-functional projects or initiatives\nStrong knowledge of Android OS architecture, platform services, and system-level integrations\nSolid design, architectural, and analytical problem-solving skills, with experience building scalable, testable, reusable applications in complex technical environments\nProficiency in Material Design and building modern, responsive, user-centric UIs\nStrong proficiency working with AI-augmented development workflows - using AI tools effectively for code generation, automated test generation, and code review, as a core part of the SDLC (tool-agnostic, not tied to any specific product)\nStrong experience designing, maintaining, and improving DevOps pipelines and tools (e.g. GitHub, GitHub Actions, Fastlane), automation, and secure software delivery\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on experience\nPreferred Qualifications\nFamiliarity with Node.js, JavaScript, Python, and/or cross-platform frameworks (React Native, Flutter), including the ability to build and maintain Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers\nExperience with IoT systems or integrations involving Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or networking hardware\nExperience working across mobile, embedded, and cloud systems to build cohesive product experiences\nExperience developing clients for APIs and microservices\nExperience with subscription-based product models (in-app purchases, billing and entitlement flows)\nCandidates with experience across both iOS and Android are a strong plus\nStrong communicator, able to articulate technical direction to both technical and non-technical stakeholders\nExperience improving developer productivity through build optimisation, observability, release governance, or pipeline security\nEligibility to live and work in Ireland is required.
