We help young Australians learn about money, credit and business through an app that makes complex topics accessible and fun.\nFlux is part of Netwealth Group (ASX: NWL). We work as a small startup team with the backing of an ASX-listed wealth platform.\nThe opportunity\nWe're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our core team. You'll lead major technical initiatives from design through to production and help lift engineering practices across the team.\nOver the next year, our focus is on:\nGrowing engagement and retention through a better learning experience, progress tracking across video and article content, and lifecycle journeys and push notifications.\n\nDefining an API contract with Netwealth and building account linking and data sync between the two platforms, starting with a pilot.\n\nLaying the identity, data and security foundations for future financial products.\n\nWhat you'll do\nLead the architecture, design and delivery of major features and platform capabilities.\n\nBuild features across our React, TypeScript and Ionic hybrid app, TypeScript services and APIs, and Firestore data models.\n\nDesign and build integrations with partner systems, including API contracts, authentication, identity linking and data sync. You'll work directly with Netwealth's engineering teams.\n\nInstrument features in Mixpanel and use engagement and retention data, such as monthly active users and cohort retention, to guide product decisions.\n\nBuild the events and data that power lifecycle journeys and push notifications in Iterable.\n\nMaintain high standards for automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring and security.\n\nBreak work into well-scoped pieces, write clear technical documentation and decision records, and raise risks and blockers early.\n\nUse AI coding tools to speed up delivery and help the team adopt them.\n\nMentor other engineers through code review and pairing.\n\nOur stack\nFront end: React, TypeScript, Ionic\n\nBack end: TypeScript\n\nData: Firebase Firestore (NoSQL)\n\nProduct and messaging: Mixpanel, Iterable\n\nTooling: Sentry, Figma, Notion, Claude Code\n\nWhat we're looking for\nStrong professional software engineering experience, including time in a senior or lead role at a startup or high-growth company.\n\nDeep TypeScript expertise across front end and back end, and strong React experience.\n\nExperience designing and shipping APIs and integrations with third-party or partner systems, such as authentication, identity linking or data synchronisation.\n\nStrong data modelling experience with NoSQL databases, ideally Firestore.\n\nSolid testing and CI/CD practice, and good judgement about when to favour speed or reliability.\n\nExperience instrumenting product analytics and using data to make product decisions.\n\nTechnical leadership experience, including owning complex projects and working across product, design and partner teams.\n\nClear, proactive communication.
