We set you on the right path with careful onboarding and thorough training programs that prepare you for success in your role and beyond.\nPosition Summary\nPOSITION SUMMARY\nThe Low Voltage Technician supports the installation, maintenance, and testing of low-voltage telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper structured cabling, cable pathways, racks, cabinets, and associated equipment. This position performs installation activities in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and established safety procedures. Technicians work collaboratively with field leadership and other team members to ensure quality workmanship, accurate documentation, and timely project completion.\nThis is a field-based position that may require overtime, weekends, holidays, and off-hours work. Travel may be required based on business needs.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nInstall, route, terminate, label, and test fiber optic and copper cabling systems in accordance with project specifications and applicable industry standards.\nInstall and support low-voltage infrastructure, including cable trays, ladder racks, basket trays, cabinets, racks, and associated telecommunications equipment.\nRead and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, installation diagrams, and technical specifications.\nPerform cable management activities, including cable dressing, routing, lacing, and organization to maintain quality installations.\nAssist with troubleshooting, testing, and verification of installed cabling systems using appropriate tools and equipment.\nFollow established safety procedures, company policies, and customer-specific jobsite requirements.\nMaintain accurate field documentation and communicate project progress, installation issues, and material needs to field leadership.\nCollaborate with supervisors, foremen, and fellow technicians to meet project deadlines and customer expectations.\nMaintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, organized, and professional manner.\nSupport company initiatives and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.\nPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nHigh school diploma or GED required.\nPrevious experience in low-voltage installation, telecommunications, structured cabling, data center construction, or a related field preferred.\nRelevant technical training, certifications, or apprenticeship experience preferred.\nFamiliarity with fiber optic and copper cabling installation practices preferred.\nAbility to follow instructions, work effectively in a team environment, and perform physically demanding fieldwork.\nWillingness to work overtime, weekends, and varying shifts as project needs require.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES\nKnowledge of basic hand tools, power tools, and construction practices associated with low-voltage installations.\nFamiliarity with structured cabling systems, including fiber optic and copper cable types, connectors, and installation methods.\nUnderstanding of cable pathways, ladder racks, basket trays, cabinets, and telecommunications infrastructure.\nAbility to read and understand blueprints, drawings, specifications, and field instructions.\nFamiliarity with cable termination, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting procedures.\nAbility to follow manufacturer specifications and industry best practices to prevent cable damage and ensure quality installations.\nUnderstanding of jobsite safety requirements and the importance of maintaining a safe work environment.\nStrong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality workmanship.\nAbility to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and project stakeholders.\nAbility to work independently when appropriate and collaboratively as part of a field installation team.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT\nThe physical demands described are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this position. The role may require sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and working in active construction and data center environments. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds and work in varying weather and environmental conditions.
