The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, reviewing and optimising operational procedures, process documentation and engineering standards within industrial and chemical processing environments.\nThe role requires strong chemical engineering knowledge, process understanding and the ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical, safe and effective operating procedures.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nAn exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Chemical Engineer to join a dynamic engineering and consulting environment as a Process / Procedure Consultant. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, reviewing and optimising operational procedures, process documentation and engineering standards within industrial and chemical processing environments.\nThe role requires strong chemical engineering knowledge, process understanding and the ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical, safe and effective operating procedures.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDevelop, review and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions and technical documentation.\n\nAnalyse existing chemical and industrial processes to identify opportunities for improvement and optimisation.\n\nDevelop and update process descriptions, operating philosophies and process control procedures.\n\nConduct process assessments, technical reviews and operational risk evaluations.\n\nEnsure procedures comply with relevant legislation, industry standards, safety regulations and environmental requirements.\n\nCollaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, plant operators, maintenance personnel and management.\n\nProvide technical consulting and recommendations on process improvements and operational efficiency.\n\nAssist with process troubleshooting, root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.\n\nReview process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and engineering specifications.\n\nDevelop process safety documentation, including risk assessments, HAZOP studies and operating guidelines.\n\nSupport commissioning, plant start-up and operational readiness activities where required.\n\nFacilitate procedure implementation, training and continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nEnsure accurate document control, revision management and technical recordkeeping.\n\nMinimum Requirements\n\nBEng / BSc in Chemical Engineering.\n\nRelevant experience in chemical, process or industrial engineering environments.\n\nExperience developing and reviewing technical procedures, operating manuals and engineering documentation.\n\nStrong understanding of chemical processes, process engineering principles and plant operations.\n\nAbility to interpret PFDs, P&IDs and technical specifications.\n\nKnowledge of process safety, risk management and relevant industry standards.\n\nExcellent technical writing, analytical and problem-solving skills.\n\nStrong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.\n\nAdvantageous Experience\n\nExperience within petrochemical, oil and gas, mining, minerals processing, manufacturing or chemical processing industries.\n\nExposure to EPC, EPCM or engineering consulting environments.\n\nExperience with HAZOP, HAZID, process safety management and risk assessments.\n\nKnowledge of process optimisation, plant commissioning and operational readiness.\n\nRegistration with ECSA or progress towards professional
