RESPONSIBILITIES:\nDesign and develop belt conveyor systems for mining, minerals processing and bulk materials handling applications.\nPerform conveyor design calculations, including:Belt tensions and power requirements\nBelt width and speed selection\nDrive sizing\nTake-up requirements\nPulley sizing\nIdler selection\nStructural loading\nMaterial throughput\n\nDesign conveyor components and associated mechanical equipment.\nDevelop conveyor layouts, general arrangements and detailed manufacturing drawings.\nDesign and integrate:Head and tail pulleys\nDrive stations\nTake-up systems\nIdler arrangements\nChutes and transfer points\nSkirting systems\nBelt cleaners\nWalkways and platforms\nGuards and safety systems\n\nDevelop equipment specifications, datasheets, BOMs and technical documentation.\nSelect and specify mechanical components and equipment.\nConduct design reviews and ensure designs meet project and customer requirements.\nLiaise with clients, suppliers, fabricators and site personnel throughout the project lifecycle.\nProvide technical support during manufacturing, installation and commissioning.\nConduct site inspections and investigations where required.\nAssist with troubleshooting and resolving conveyor-related mechanical problems.\nReview and approve engineering drawings and documentation.\nEnsure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, specifications and safety requirements.\nAssist with cost estimates, technical proposals and tender submissions.\nIdentify opportunities to improve conveyor performance, reliability, maintainability and efficiency.\nProvide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.\nMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:\nBEng/BSc/BTech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.\nRelevant mechanical engineering experience, preferably in conveyor systems or bulk materials handling.\nProven experience in the design of belt conveyor systems.\nStrong understanding of mechanical engineering principles.\nExperience with conveyor design calculations and component selection.\nExperience working in the mining, minerals processing, materials handling or heavy industrial sector will be highly advantageous.\nProficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar mechanical design software.\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nGood understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.\nValid driver's licence.\nWillingness to travel to mine and project sites when
