leading engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer - Building Services to join its multidisciplinary engineering team.The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, coordination and implementation of electrical building services systems across commercial, industrial, residential, healthcare, retail and other building projects.\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineer who enjoys working on technically challenging projects and collaborating with architects, mechanical engineers, civil engineers, quantity surveyors, contractors and other project stakeholders.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign and develop electrical building services systems from concept through to detailed design and construction.\nDesign LV electrical distribution systems, including transformers, switchgear, distribution boards and final circuits.\nDevelop lighting and emergency lighting systems.\nDesign small power and general electrical services.\nPerform electrical load calculations and equipment sizing.\nDevelop single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts and electrical specifications.\nDesign cable containment, cable routes and electrical reticulation systems.\nDevelop electrical services layouts using AutoCAD and/or Revit.\nPerform voltage-drop, short-circuit and cable-sizing calculations.\nSpecify electrical equipment, cables, protection devices and associated equipment.\nAssist with the preparation of electrical Bills of Quantities and equipment schedules.\nPrepare technical reports, specifications and tender documentation.\nReview supplier and contractor drawings and technical submissions.\nConduct site inspections and monitor electrical installations.\nProvide technical support during construction and commissioning.\nAttend project and design coordination meetings.\nCoordinate electrical services with mechanical, HVAC, fire, plumbing, structural and architectural disciplines.\nIdentify and resolve clashes and design interface issues.\nEnsure designs comply with relevant SANS, IEC and statutory requirements.\nAssist with project planning, cost estimates and technical proposals.\nProvide technical guidance to junior engineers and draughting staff.\nMaintain project documentation and ensure engineering deliverables are completed to the required quality standards.\nMinimum Requirements\nBEng / BSc / BTech / BEngTech in Electrical Engineering.\n3-6 years' experience in electrical building services engineering.\nProven experience designing LV electrical systems for buildings.\nStrong knowledge of:Electrical distribution\nLighting\nSmall power\nEmergency power\nEarthing and lightning protection\nCable sizing and voltage-drop calculations\nProtection and discrimination\nStandby generators and UPS systems\n\nExperience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.\nKnowledge of relevant SANS and IEC standards.\nAbility to produce and review engineering drawings and technical documentation.\nValid driver's licence.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAdvantageous\nECSA registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist, or actively working towards professional registration.\nExperience with Revit MEP.\nExperience with electrical design software such as ETAP, EasyPower or similar.\nExperience with lighting calculation software such as Dialux.\nExposure to BIM and multidisciplinary coordination.\nExperience with healthcare, commercial, industrial, retail, residential or high-rise developments.\nExperience with renewable energy, solar PV, battery storage or energy-efficiency projects.\nExperience with data centres or mission-critical facilities.\nPrevious consulting engineering experience.\nKey
