established engineering specialist is seeking a Fire Detection Design Engineer to join its technical team.The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, engineering, documentation and technical support of fire detection and alarm systems across commercial, industrial, mining and other specialised environments.\nThis role is suited to an engineer with strong technical design capability who understands fire detection systems, applicable standards and the practical requirements of installation and commissioning.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign fire detection and alarm systems in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.\nDevelop detailed fire detection layouts, system schematics and technical drawings.\nPerform system calculations and equipment selection.\nDevelop equipment schedules, cable schedules, cause-and-effect matrices and technical specifications.\nSelect appropriate fire detection equipment, panels, modules, detectors and associated devices.\nReview architectural, electrical and mechanical drawings to coordinate fire detection system designs.\nPrepare design documentation, specifications, datasheets and technical submissions.\nEnsure designs comply with relevant SANS, NFPA and other applicable fire protection standards.\nAssist with tender documentation, bills of quantities and technical proposals.\nReview designs and drawings for accuracy, compliance and constructability.\nLiaise with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and installation teams.\nProvide technical support during installation, testing and commissioning.\nAttend site meetings and inspections when required.\nAssist with troubleshooting and resolving technical design and installation issues.\nConduct design reviews and ensure projects are delivered within agreed deadlines and budgets.\nMaintain accurate project documentation and revision control.\nMinimum Requirements\nBEng / BSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or a related engineering discipline.\nRelevant experience in fire detection and alarm system design.\nStrong understanding of electrical and electronic systems.\nExperience producing technical drawings and engineering documentation.\nProficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent design software.\nGood knowledge of Microsoft Office.\nUnderstanding of relevant South African fire protection standards and regulations.\nValid driver's licence.\nWillingness to travel to project sites when
