In this role, you will own the development of scalable test infrastructure, automation frameworks, and validation strategies that ensure the reliability, performance, and safety of software powering our humanoid robots.\nYou will work closely with Software Engineers, Middleware Engineers, Perception Engineers, and Robotics Developers to build robust testing and validation pipelines across the entire robotics stack- from embedded devices and middleware services to perception, motion control, and autonomous behavior.\nThis role goes beyond traditional QA. We are looking for an engineer who can understand complex robotic systems, identify failure modes, build automated validation frameworks, and contribute code directly to improve system robustness and developer productivity.\nYour work will directly impact the reliability of robots operating in real-world environments and help establish engineering quality standards across the 4NE1 software platform.\nWhat we look forward to\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field\n\nStrong software engineering fundamentals with experience building automated test systems\n\nExperience working with distributed software systems, middleware, or robotic platforms\n\nAbility to collaborate closely with perception, controls, infrastructure, and platform engineering teams\n\nStrong debugging mindset and systems-level thinking\n\nStrong programming skills in C++ and Python\n\nExperience developing automated testing frameworks and tooling\n\nDeep understanding of software testing methodologies (unit, integration, system, regression, end-to-end testing)\n\nExperience with ROS2, DDS, or distributed robotics middleware architectures\n\nUnderstanding of robotic systems including:\nSensor integration\n\nCalibration workflows\n\nSynchronization\n\nState estimation\n\nMotion control systems\n\nExperience debugging complex interactions across software, hardware, and networked systems\n\nExperience building CI/CD pipelines and automated validation workflows\n\nFamiliarity with Linux-based development environments\n\nStrong understanding of software architecture, system observability, logging, and diagnostics\n\nExperience with Git and modern software development practices\n\nNice to have skills\nExperience with robotics perception systems (cameras, LiDAR, IMUs, force/torque sensors)\n\nExperience validating multi-sensor systems and synchronization pipelines\n\nExperience with simulation environments such as Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or MuJoCo\n\nExperience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing\n\nUnderstanding of real-time systems and deterministic communication\n\nKnowledge of robotics communication protocols such as EtherCAT, CAN, DDS, or OPC-UA\n\nExperience with performance testing, stress testing, and reliability
