Backend Developer

We are seeking a Backend Developer with 2-4 years of experience to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services powering our AI platform. The ideal candidate should have strong experience with Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, cloud services, and distributed systems.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend services.
• Build and optimise RESTful APIs using FastAPI.
• Architect backend systems capable of handling large-scale video, audio, and AI processing workloads.
• Develop features supporting video processing, AI workflows, user management, billing, and platform operations.
• Design and maintain PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, and migrations.
• Integrate backend systems with AI/ML services, cloud infrastructure, and third-party APIs.
• Implement asynchronous and event-driven workflows using Redis and background processing systems.
• Optimise application performance, database queries, and API response times.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following software engineering best practices.
• Write comprehensive unit tests and ensure adequate test coverage for all new features and critical services.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with Frontend, DevOps, QA, and ML teams to deliver high-quality features.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Contribute to platform scalability, reliability, security, and performance improvements.

Requirements:

• 2-5 years of experience in Backend Development.
• Strong proficiency in Python programming.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar backend frameworks.
• Strong understanding of REST API design principles.
• Experience building scalable backend services and distributed systems.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL and relational database design.
• Experience writing optimised SQL queries and handling database migrations.
• Familiarity with Redis, caching strategies, and background job processing.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and service-oriented design.
• Experience with Docker and containerised applications.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services.
• Knowledge of authentication and authorisation mechanisms such as JWT and OAuth.
• Experience writing unit tests and maintaining good test coverage.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and code quality practices.
