These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world.\nTeam Description:\nThe Materials Engineering Team at Neuralink develops and qualifies high-performance, biocompatible materials for next-generation brain-computer interfaces. The team owns material characterization, hermetic packaging reliability, accelerated lifetime testing, and predictive simulation for implantable neural devices. We operate at the intersection of physical testing and computational modeling, closing the loop between experiment and simulation to drive design decisions.\nJob Description and Responsibilities:\nWe are looking for a Mechanical Engineer who owns the full simulation-to-test loop for implant mechanical reliability. This person will build explicit dynamics FEA models, design and run physical tests, calibrate material models against experimental data, and validate predictions. You will work closely with materials engineers, microfabrication, and cross-functional reliability teams to ensure the implant meets impact, fatigue, and seal integrity requirements. \n\nBuild, refine, and validate explicit dynamics Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models (LS-DYNA, Abaqus/Explicit) to predict mechanical response under high-strain-rate impact loading.\nOwn the in-house mechanical testing pipeline end-to-end: design fixtures, prepare specimens, run tests (servo-hydraulic, drop tower, DIC), and correlate results to simulation using quantitative metrics (CORA, force-displacement overlay, DIC contour comparison).\nTranslate physical test data into constitutive model inputs: calibrate material cards, optimize parameters, and deliver validated simulation files.\nCoordinate test projects (SHPB, DMA, abuse testing) and own data quality from external sources.\nExtend validated impact models to adjacent reliability domains: burst/cyclic pressure testing, vibration fatigue, and seal interface simulation.\nSupport cross-functional reliability programs including thermal modeling, RH/leak modeling, and accelerated lifetime testing as needed\nRequired Qualifications: \n\nMS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.\n2+ years of hands-on experience with explicit dynamics FEA (LS-DYNA, Abaqus/Explicit, or similar) - not static/modal only.\n2+ years of hands-on experience with mechanical testing (tensile testers, DMA, servo-hydraulic frames, or similar equipment).\nExperience with polymer or composite material characterization, including rate-dependent and temperature-dependent behavior.\nHands-on experience with mechanical assembly, fabrication, or building and calibrating test equipment.\nProficiency in mechanical design (SolidWorks or similar CAD software).\nFamiliarity with relevant test standards (ASTM, IEC).\nAbility to work autonomously: define test plans, build fixtures, run tests, analyze data, and present conclusions\nPreferred Qualifications: \n\nDirect experience with high-strain-rate testing (SHPB, drop tower).\nExperience with Digital Image Correlation (DIC) or full-field strain measurement.\nExperience with constitutive model calibration and parameter optimization (fitting test data to LS-DYNA material cards such as MAT_SAMP-1, MAT_024, or cohesive zone models).\nMedical device or aerospace reliability background (DV/V&V, FDA regulatory context).\nPython for data processing and automation.\nExperience correlating simulation to physical test data using quantitative metrics (CORA, force-displacement overlay, DIC contour comparison).\nExperience calibrating and troubleshooting lab instrumentation.\nExpected Compensation:\nThe anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the following range. Your actual base pay will be determined by your job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. We also believe in aligning our employees’ success with the company's long-term growth. As such, in addition to base salary, Neuralink offers equity compensation (in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSU)) for all full-time employees.\nBase Salary Range:\n$113,000—$209,000 USD\nWhat We Offer:\nFull-time employees are eligible for the following benefits listed below.\nAn opportunity to change the world and work with some of the smartest and most talented experts from different fields\nGrowth potential; we rapidly advance team members who have an outsized impact\nExcellent medical, dental, and vision insurance through a PPO plan\nPaid holidays\nCommuter benefits\nMeals provided\nEquity (RSUs) *Temporary Employees & Interns excluded\n401(k) plan *Interns initially excluded until they work 1,000 hours\nParental leave *Temporary Employees & Interns excluded\nFlexible time off *Temporary Employees & Interns excluded","description_format":"text","description_chars":4858,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":2,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"master","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Flexible time off","Parental leave","Restricted stock units","Vision insurance"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Medical & Healthcare Robotics","Neurotech & Neuromodulation"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-05T10:03:10Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"US","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"H-1B filings in 12 months: 25 · green card filings: 1","filings_12m":25,"filings_prev_12m":12,"green_card_filings_12m":1,"median_offered_wage_usd":145962,"route":null,"cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-15T11:24:14+00:00","sources":["US Department of Labor: LCA disclosure data (H-1B, H-1B1, E-3)","US Department of Labor: PERM disclosure data (green cards)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":17,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":0.6,"p_active":0.644,"p_room":0.44,"age_days":172,"expected_fill_days":138,"reasons":["seen:31","velocity","win:tail","crowd:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-26T05:57:25Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":209000,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/neuralink-materials-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/neuralink-materials-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-27T01:34:01Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":469,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-28T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":8},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=8"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fneuralink-materials-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fneuralink-materials-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fneuralink-materials-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/neuralink-materials-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fneuralink-materials-engineer"}]}
