These devices allow us to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize how humans interact with their digital world.\nTeam Description:\nThe Brain Interfaces Mechanical Engineering Team is responsible for the design, build, and testing of all mechanical systems in our implant and charger. Our team also develops test infrastructure to accelerate hardware development and manufacturing, designs electronics packaging for our charger and implant electronics, and creates tooling to interface the implant with the surgical robot.\nJob Description and Responsibilities:\nAs a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will support the design and production of hardware solutions for our brain-computer interface devices, including components for surgical robotics, automation, microfabrication, and more. You will have the opportunity to contribute to projects at various stages from concept through production, applying your mechanical engineering knowledge in the challenging field of brain-computer interfaces. Additionally, you will be expected to:\nDesign, build, test, and validate systems for the implant and related hardware components\nDevelop and improve manufacturing processes and equipment to support in-house production\nScope, design and iterate custom tooling and fixturing required for the implant assembly line\nWork with Quality, Electrical Engineering, BCI Software, Microfabrication, and Surgery Engineering to define system requirements, verification and validation tests, and more\nAdhere to aggressive project schedules and ensure timely completion from inception to implementation\nRequired Qualifications: \n\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field\n6+ months of relevant academic coursework or project experience\n9+ months of experience applying technical skills outside the classroom (e.g., personal projects, prior internships, or work experience)\n1+ years of Mechanical Design experience\nStrong understanding of engineering first principles\nEffective written and verbal communication skills\nPreferred Qualifications: \n1+ years of mechanical engineering industry experience, including owning products from concept to production\nFamiliarity with machining and rapid prototyping technologies\nExperience with precision design and manufacturing\nExposure to medical device design and manufacturing\nPay Transparency:\nThe following details are for Texas individuals only.\nTexas Hourly Rate: \n$35/Hr USD\nWhat We Offer:\nFull-time employees are eligible for the following benefits listed below.\nAn opportunity to change the world and work with some of the smartest and most talented experts from different fields\nGrowth potential;
