Maintenance Technician

Neurotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a private biotech company located in Cumberland, RI and Needham, MA, within the realm of Greater Boston’s vast biotechnology landscape. Since our inception more than 20 years ago, our focus has been on developing and commercializing transformative therapies for chronic eye diseases. The core platform technology, Encapsulated Cell Therapy (ECT), is a first-in-class drug delivery platform designed to slow the progression of chronic eye diseases. Neurotech’s first commercial product, ENCELTOTM (revakinagene taroretcel-lwey), is approved in the United States for the treatment of adults with idiopathic Macular Telangiectasia Type 2 (MacTel). Encapsulated cell-based gene therapy is designed to provide long-term, sustained delivery of therapeutic proteins for the treatment of chronic eye diseases.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing and coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance on GMP-compliant facilities, utilities, and equipment. This role ensures reliable operation of critical systems, supports compliance with regulatory standards, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires hands-on technical expertise and collaboration with internal teams and external service providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems (HVAC, Electrical, RODI, Clean Steam, WFI).
• Manage contract service providers, including scheduling, coordination, and ensuring all work and documentation is performed in accordance with state/local and CGMP requirements.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities in CMMS and ensure compliance with SOPs and cGMP requirements.
• Assist with installation, calibration, and qualification of equipment.
• Respond promptly to alarms, breakdowns, and emergency situations.
• Support facility audits and inspections by regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate with vendors for service calls and verify work meets specifications.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for reliability and efficiency.
• Adhere to EH&S programs and safety protocols.

Education & Experience

• Preferred: Associate degree or technical certification in mechanical/electrical systems; BS in engineering or related field a plus.
• Required: 3-5 years of maintenance experience in GMP, biotech, or pharmaceutical environments.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Working knowledge of GMP requirements and cleanroom operations.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with CMMS and building automation systems (e.g., Metasys, Rees).
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and technical documentation.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
