If you're ready to help the world's best companies optimize their digital applications, we invite you to explore a career with us!\nAbout the Team\nThe NR Lens team builds New Relic's Federated Data Platform - a distributed SQL query engine that lets customers connect external data sources (Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Google Sheets, AWS CloudWatch) and query them directly from New Relic.\nYou'll work on the distributed query execution layer, connector architecture, and API gateway that powers cross-source JOINs and unified analytics across customer data stores.\n What You'll Do\nDesign, build, and maintain cloud-native Java microservices in the NR Lens query path: SQL Gateway, Query Gateway, and data source connector plugins\nDevelop and harden JDBC connector integrations - including connection lifecycle management, credential handling, query pushdown optimization, and security validation\nImprove query reliability and performance across a multi-tenant distributed SQL deployment serving 50+ customers\nBuild and operate services on AWS (EKS, IAM/STS, S3) with infrastructure-as-code practices\nImplement security controls for user-supplied connection parameters (JDBC URL validation, SSRF prevention, hostname allowlisting)\nBuild materialized view scheduling, execution, and lifecycle management features\nDesign and implement deployment automation - canary deployments, progressive rollouts, observability integration\nCollaborate with the NRDB/Dirac team on the internal connector bridging federated queries to New Relic's native telemetry engine\nParticipate in on-call rotation and incident response for production systems\n What We're Looking For\n Must Have:\n5+ years of professional Java development .\nStrong experience building cloud-native applications on AWS.\nExperience designing and operating containerized microservices on Kubernetes\nExperience building and operating distributed systems at scale\nFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines\nExperience with AWS security patterns.\nExperience with observability tooling - defining SLOs/SLIs, dashboards, alerting\nComfort debugging production issues across multi-service architectures\nExperience with gRPC or Thrift-based service communication\nExperience with GraphQL APIs\n Nice to Have:\nStrong understanding of SQL query execution - parsing, planning, optimization, or execution engines\nExperience with JDBC drivers, connection pooling, and database connector development\nExperience with distributed query engines or SQL-on-anything platforms\nExperience developing plugins or connectors for distributed query engines (SPI-based architectures)\nKnowledge of RBAC/authorization systems in multi-tenant SaaS environments\nPlease note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.\nFostering a diverse, welcoming and inclusive environment is important to us.
