Artistic excellence, connection to audiences, engaging communities and entrepreneurial activities are pillars of the experiential curriculum.\n DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nWorks closely with the Facilities Director and Facilities personnel in maintaining and servicing all building systems at New World Center and/or Alton Pointe (NWS-owned residential complex) as assigned\nPerforms daily building inspections\nPerforms a variety of general and semi-skilled tasks and assignments within the building, offices and around the grounds of the organization\nCompletes maintenance requests as assigned and in accordance with priorities set by the Facilities Director\nReceives daily list of work orders to be accomplished\nReports any difficulties or circumstances preventing completion of assignments\nMoves and stores furniture and equipment\nAssists in loading and unloading shipments \nMakes pick-up and delivery trips associated with maintenance tasks\nPerforms routine and unpredicted building maintenance\nPerforms HVAC maintenance and repair\nPerforms electrical light bulb and fixture maintenance and replacement\nPaints and performs drywall repairs\nPerforms basic carpentry\nPerforms plumbing and appliance repairs\nMaintains public areas including maintenance to restrooms\nKeeps building grounds tidy by regularly mowing, raking, trimming, watering, performing weeds maintenance and sweeping\nPerforms trash removal\nMaintains clean and safe environment for the entire property\nMaintains club room and gymnasium\nPerforms other job-related duties as assigned\n EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE\nHigh School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 1 year of related experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered\nHVAC journeyman’s license and a refrigerant handler’s type universal certificate highly desirable\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES\nKnowledge of basic landscaping principles, plant care, and grounds maintenance techniques\nAbility to operate groundskeeping equipment safely and efficiently\nAbility to take initiative and be a self-starter\nExcellent customer service skills \nAbility to respond and remedy maintenance issues in a timely manner\nAbility to communicate effectively, both written and verbal\nTroubleshooting minor issues and reporting more significant problems to the manager\nKnowledge of Building Management Systems is highly desirable\nPassion for the mission of the New World Symphony and commitment to its values of community, respect, excellence, accountability, and trust\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nAbility to work a flexible schedule\nAbility to provide on-call coverage for emergencies after hours, weekends and holidays\nGroundskeeping can be physically demanding, regularly requiring the application of various types of physical exertion, including prolonged reaching, bending, kneeling, and lifting and must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds\n EEO STATEMENT: The New World Symphony is an equal opportunity employer.
