Joining Ahafo South offers the opportunity to build a rewarding long-term career at the forefront of Ghana’s mining industry while contributing to an operation that creates lasting value for host communities and showcases Newmont’s commitment to responsible mining on a global stage.\nYour Impact:\nTo manage site projects to ensure timely completion and compliance with safety and quality standards.\nAs Part Of Our Team You Will: \nSupport the development of project designs and plans, prepare technical drawings and documentation under the guidance of senior engineers.\nCollate data and requirements from various departments to assist the planning and design process.\nExecute regular site inspections to confirm work is being carried out according to project specifications and safety standards.\nCollate observations and report findings from site inspections to senior engineers for further analysis.\nSupport day-to-day project activities, ensuring tasks are completed on time and within the project scope.\nMonitor the progress of project tasks and report any issues or delays to the project manager.\nProvide technical support and troubleshooting for on-site issues, collaborating closely with the engineering team to find solutions.\nAssist in maintaining tools and equipment required for project activities.\nImplement the implementation of health, safety, and environmental regulations, ensuring all site activities comply with company policies.\nSupport in safety assessments and assist in the development of mitigation strategies as directed by senior staff.\nYour Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:\nFormal Qualification (including Professional Registrations):\nTertiary qualifications in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.\nExperience:\nMinimum three (3) years of relevant engineering experience, preferably involving underground development, infrastructure, mine services or contractor-delivered projects.\nAdditional Knowledge:\nWorking knowledge of underground mine development and infrastructure, including mine services such as dewatering/water reticulation, ventilation, electrical distribution, communications, controls and compressed air.\nKnowledge of engineering design and construction documentation, including design criteria, specifications, IFC drawings, technical queries/RFIs, redlines and as-built documentation.\nKnowledge of construction quality management, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), hold/witness points, inspections, testing, non-conformances and corrective-action closeout.\nUnderstanding project and construction controls, including work packages, short-term look-ahead schedules, progress measurement, quantity verification, change control, schedule constraints and contractor performance.\nKnowledge of engineering risk, constructability, operability and commissioning principles, including hazard reviews, punch-list management, commissioning readiness, turnover dossiers, O&M documentation and operational handover.\nWorking knowledge of applicable engineering standards, statutory requirements and mine safety requirements relevant to underground infrastructure projects.\nTechnical Skills:\nProficient in project planning, design support, field inspections, task coordination, technical troubleshooting, and safety compliance.\nPractical application proficiency in project management and engineering tools.\n Ability to assess field problems, develop practical options within delegated authority, and escalate matters requiring specialist or accountable-engineer decisions.\nStrong written and verbal communication, cross-disciplinary collaboration, accurate record keeping and willingness to stop unsafe work.\nSocial Process Skills:\nSelf-awareness:\nAdapt their own behavior where necessary in order to get a productive outcome for the wider team.\nUnderstand own behaviors and is aware of the impact on others.\nTeam process:\nAble to be an effective team member by listening, clarifying tasks, receiving, and providing feedback.\nAble to be an effective team leader (where applicable) by establishing and maintaining a positive and productive work environment through listening, dealing with different points of view, giving, and receiving feedback.\nCollaboration:\nBuilds positive working relationships with a diverse range of people across disciplines.\nYour Work Environment:\nThe location for this position is at our Ahafo South mine site.\nAt Newmont, our people are our strength and we’re committed to a safe, inclusive and supportive workplace.
