Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. We also partner with the New Ireland Province to ensure economic benefits flow directly to the community, strengthening our commitment to sustainable development and positive local impact.\nPurpose\nReporting to the Superintendent Mine Planning, the Supervisor Drill & Blast is responsible for leading safe and efficient drill and blast activities to support production objectives in a dynamic geothermal environment. Working closely with the Mining Department, this role provides frontline leadership to the Drill & Blast team, ensuring compliance with safety standards, effective resource allocation, operational excellence and continuous improvement.\nEssential Duties\nLead and supervise daily drill and blast operations. -\nFoster a strong safety culture through visible leadership and coaching.\nCoordinate people, equipment and resources to achieve planned production targets.\nConduct workplace inspections, risk assessments and safety audits.\nMonitor operational performance and implement improvement initiatives.\nMentor and develop team members.\nTraining & Experience\nYou will be a visible safety leader, an effective people manager and a strong operational decision maker who can balance production requirements with safety, compliance and team development. You will be comfortable leading in a dynamic mining environment and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
