Working within the Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) team, you will take the satellite from integrated subsystems to a flight-ready, fully verified vehicle.\nYou will bridge systems engineering, subsystem teams and the AIT Engineering Functions. You will turn requirements into test procedures, run and lead test campaigns, and make sure every requirement is closed out with traceable evidence before launch.\nThe role suits someone who knows SmallSat development approaches, is hands-on with Hardware and Ground Support Equipment (GSE), and understands how satellite subsystems behave together.\nResponsibilities\nFunctional and system testing\nOwn the functional and system test programme for the spacecraft, from unit-level acceptance, integration, thought to whole System End-to-End Testing.\n\nWrite, review and run test specifications and procedures, including basic functional testing, FDIR, end-to-end tests and mission/day-in-the-life simulations.\n\nLead test readiness reviews and test review boards, and sign off test reports.\n\nRun tests before, during and after environmental campaigns (vibration, thermal vacuum, EMC) to confirm spacecraft health.\n\nDiagnose anomalies, raise and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and drive root-cause investigations with subsystem engineers.\n\nDevelop and maintain automated test scripts and telemetry/telecommand (TM/TC) databases used for testing.\n\nVerification tracking\nOwn the verification matrix (VCRM) for the satellite campaign, mapping each requirement to its method: test, analysis, inspection or review of design.\n\nPlan the verification approach with Systems Engineering and keep it current through the campaign.\n\nCollect and link verification evidence, and report close-out status against milestones.\n\nPrepare verification data packages for key reviews (e.g. CDR, TRR, QR, PSR/FAR) and customer acceptance.\n\nGSE and test infrastructure\nSpecify, integrate and validate Electrical GSE, including power supplies, battery simulators, RF test sets, umbilicals and break-out boxes.\n\nMaintain the spacecraft checkout software and ground segment interfaces used on the AIT floor.\n\nMake sure GSE is calibrated, configuration-controlled and safe for use with flight hardware.\n\nIntegration and campaign support\nSupport subsystem and payload integration, including electrical interface checks, harness verification and safe-to-mate procedures.\n\nPlan and schedule system test activities within the wider AIT campaign.\n\nSupport launch campaign activities, including transport, launch site checkout and launch vehicle interface testing.\n\nWork to cleanroom, ESD and flight hardware handling standards, and contribute to lessons learned for future missions.\n\nRequirements\nDegree in Aerospace, Electronic, Electrical or Systems Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience.\n\nTypically 3+ years in spacecraft AIT, systems integration or test engineering.\n\nHands-on experience with functional and system-level testing of satellites or space subsystems.\n\nFamiliarity with SmallSat development approaches: agile, rapid iteration, protoflight models, and pragmatic use of COTS components.\n\nWorking knowledge of satellite subsystems: EPS, OBC/C&DH, ADCS, communications (TT&C and payload RF), propulsion, thermal, structures and payloads.\n\nExperience using and setting up GSE, including EGSE, checkout systems and RF test equipment.\n\nExperience with requirements verification and maintaining a verification matrix through to close-out.\n\nComfortable with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, spectrum analysers, logic analysers.\n\nFamiliarity with common spacecraft interfaces and protocols (e.g. CAN, I2C, SPI, RS-422, SpaceWire, CCSDS).\n\nClear technical writing for procedures, test reports and NCRs.\n\nDesirables\nEnd-to-end involvement in at least one satellite mission that reached launch.\n\nTest automation and scripting in Python or similar, and experience with spacecraft control or checkout software (e.g. OpenC3/COSMOS, Yamcs, SCOS-2000).\n\nExperience planning or supporting environmental test campaigns (vibration, TVAC, EMC).\n\nKnowledge of ECSS standards (e.g. ECSS-E-ST-10-02 Verification, ECSS-E-ST-10-03 Testing) or NASA equivalents.\n\nRequirements management tools (e.g. DOORS, Jama, Polarion, Valispace).\n\nLaunch campaign experience at a launch site.\n\nCleanroom and ESD-certified flight hardware handling.\n\nEligibility for UK security clearance, or the ability to obtain it, if required by the programme.\n\nPersonal attributes\nTakes ownership: drives tests and verification to close-out without waiting to be asked.\n\nMethodical and detail-focused, with a strong sense of safety and quality around flight hardware.\n\nCalm, structured problem-solver when anomalies appear under schedule pressure.\n\nCommunicates clearly across disciplines, from subsystem engineers to programme managers and customers.\n\nComfortable in a fast-paced SmallSat environment, balancing rigour with pace.\n\nWilling to work flexibly during test and launch campaigns, including occasional travel.\n\nWhy NewOrbit Space?\nPioneering space technology - Your work on our RF gridded ion thrusters and VLEO satellite platform will redefine satellite operations and challenge traditional LEO.\n\nOwnership and impact - You'll have a level of ownership that's rare in the space industry, and you'll take part in the full lifecycle of satellite technology.\n\nEquity and competitive salary - Alongside a competitive salary you receive a company ownership stake, so you share in the technology you help build and in our collective success.\n\nComprehensive benefits - Private health insurance with dental and optical cover, and annual health check-ups.\n\nHybrid working - One dedicated remote day per week.\n\nVisa sponsorship and relocation support - We sponsor visas and provide relocation support for candidates moving to join us.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6603,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity","Health insurance","Hybrid work"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United Kingdom","iso":"GB","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":true,"industries":["Earth Observation"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-29T21:54:04Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"GB","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"Licensed UK visa sponsor (Skilled Worker)","filings_12m":null,"filings_prev_12m":null,"green_card_filings_12m":null,"median_offered_wage_usd":null,"route":"Skilled Worker","cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-31T06:23:40+00:00","sources":["UK Home Office: register of licensed sponsors (workers)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":1,"expected_fill_days":30,"reasons":["conf:1","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-31T05:58:55Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/neworbit-ait-systems-integration-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/neworbit-ait-systems-integration-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-11-01T01:54:36Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":2845,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-02T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":679537},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=679537"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fneworbit-ait-systems-integration-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fneworbit-ait-systems-integration-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fneworbit-ait-systems-integration-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/neworbit-ait-systems-integration-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fneworbit-ait-systems-integration-engineer"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3486671}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"neworbit.space","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3486671},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
