Tech Lead - AI & Platform Engineering

As a Tech Lead at Newron.ai, you will own the design, architecture, and delivery of AI-first platforms and agentic systems powering mission-critical workflows for NBFCs, banks, and enterprises. You will lead a team of engineers to build scalable backend systems, AI pipelines, and GenAI-driven productswhile working closely with product, ML, and leadership teams. This is a hands-on leadership role where you are expected to architect, code, mentor, and ship production systems at scale.

The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:

Architecture and System Design:

• Design scalable architectures for AI platforms, microservices, and data pipelines.
• Define system design patterns for LLM-based applications and agentic workflows.
• Build resilient systems handling high-volume BFSI data and transactions.

AI and GenAI Platform Development:

• Lead development of LLM-powered services, AI agents, and orchestration layers.
• Design pipelines for document processing (PDFs, images, OCR, extraction).
• Integrate GenAI models (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini) into production workflows.

Engineering Leadership:

• Lead and mentor a team of backend/full-stack engineers.
• Drive code quality, design reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Own delivery timelines and ensure high-quality execution.

Product and Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with product, ML, and business teams to translate requirements into scalable systems.
• Contribute to product thinking and feature prioritisation.
• Ensure alignment between business impact and engineering execution.

Ownership and Delivery:

• Own modules end-to-end: design, build, deploy, monitor.
• Drive rapid MVP development and production rollouts.
• Ensure high availability, security, and performance.

You will lead systems that:

• Power loan onboarding, underwriting, CAM generation, and fraud detection.
• Enable GenAI agents for document understanding and decisioning.
• Support human-in-the-loop workflows for high-stakes financial decisions.
• Operate at scale with real-time APIs and enterprise integrations.

Requirements:

• 5-8 years of experience in backend/full-stack / AI engineering.
• Prior experience as a Senior Engineer or Tech Lead.
• Strong experience building production-grade distributed systems.

Core Skills:

• Strong backend expertise in Python / Node.js / TypeScript.
• Experience with microservices architecture and API design.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS / GCP).

AI / GenAI Exposure:

• Experience building or integrating: LLM-based systems / GenAI applications, Document processing pipelines (OCR, extraction), AI agents / LangChain / orchestration frameworks.
• Understanding of prompt engineering, embeddings, and retrieval systems.

Data and Systems:

• Experience with unstructured data (PDFs, images, documents).
• Familiarity with databases (PostgreSQL, Redis).
• Experience with data pipelines and processing frameworks.

DevOps and Infra:

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent).
• Monitoring tools (Datadog, Grafana).

Good to Have:

• Experience in BFSI / lending/fintech systems.
• Exposure to fraud detection, underwriting, or credit workflows.
• Experience building high-scale SaaS platforms.
• Prior work on agentic AI systems or workflow automation.
• Strong ownership mindset (not just task execution).
• Ability to think in systems, not just code.
• Balance between speed and architectural rigour.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Someone who can scale both systems and teams.
