You'll work with teams across Newsflare to understand their questions, analyse data and turn your findings into clear, useful insights.\nThe role will suit an experienced Data Analyst, Data Scientist or Analytics Lead who is ready to take greater ownership and step into a lead role, stand-alone role.\nRequirements\nKey Responsibilities\nData & Analytics\nDevelop analytical solutions to answer commercial, operational and business questions.\n\nWork directly with stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into practical analytical solutions.\n\nAnalyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, opportunities and issues.\n\nUse statistical and mathematical techniques to investigate business problems and support decision-making.\n\nDevelop predictive models, algorithms and machine learning solutions where appropriate.\n\nUse R for statistical analysis, modelling and data science.\n\nUse Python to develop scripts, automate processes and deploy analytical solutions.\n\nChallenge assumptions and investigate the underlying drivers behind business performance.\n\nReporting & Visualisation\nDevelop and maintain Tableau dashboards and reporting for teams across the business.\n\nImprove existing reports and identify opportunities to make reporting more useful and efficient.\n\nDevelop clear and effective visualisations to communicate key findings.\n\nEnsure reporting is accurate, consistent and based on trusted data.\n\nHelp stakeholders understand what the data is telling them and how they can use it.\n\nData Engineering & Infrastructure\nDevelop and maintain data pipelines using Matillion.\n\nWork with Snowflake to structure, transform and manage analytical data.\n\nImprove the quality, consistency and accessibility of data within the existing data environment.\n\nDevelop appropriate data models, schemas and transformations to support analytics and reporting.\n\nIdentify data quality issues and work with Technology to resolve them.\n\nAutomate repetitive data and reporting processes where appropriate.\n\nWork with the Technology team where changes to underlying systems or data sources are required.\n\nBusiness Support\nWork closely with Commercial, Finance, Operations, Marketing and Technology teams to solve data-related problems.\n\nRespond to emerging business questions and develop appropriate analytical solutions.\n\nIdentify opportunities to use existing data to improve performance, efficiency and revenue.\n\nCommunicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.\n\nBuild confidence and trust in data across the business.\n\nShare knowledge and help develop data and analytical capability within Newsflare.\n\nWhat Success Looks Like\nWithin your first 12 months, you will have:\nImproved the quality and reliability of Newsflare's data and reporting.\n\nDelivered new analytical solutions that answer important business questions.\n\nImproved and expanded our Tableau reporting.\n\nDeveloped more automated and efficient data processes using Matillion and Python.\n\nMade better use of the data already available within Snowflake.\n\nIdentified meaningful trends, opportunities and insights through analysis.\n\nIntroduced more sophisticated statistical or predictive analysis where it adds value.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nEssential\nProven experience in data analytics, data science, statistics, business intelligence or a related discipline.\n\nStrong experience using data to answer business questions and generate actionable insights.\n\nStrong statistical and analytical skills.\n\nAdvanced experience with R or a similar statistical programming language.\n\nStrong SQL skills and experience working with data warehouses.\n\nExperience developing dashboards and reporting, ideally using Tableau.\n\nExperience using Python for scripting, automation or deployment.\n\nExperience working with large and complex datasets.\n\nAbility to communicate analytical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.\n\nA practical, curious and commercially-minded approach to problem-solving.\n\nDesirable\nExperience with machine learning and predictive modelling.\n\nExperience with Snowflake.\n\nExperience working with ETL/data integration tools, ideally Matillion.\n\nExperience with cloud data platforms and modern data stacks\n\nExperience working with large-scale video, image or other unstructured datasets.\n\nExperience in a technology, media, marketplace or start-up environment.\n\nA degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or another quantitative discipline.\n\nThe Person\nWe're looking for someone who enjoys doing, not just advising.\nYou should be comfortable taking a business question, finding the relevant data, carrying out the analysis, building the reporting or model and explaining the answer to the people who need it.\nYou'll be naturally curious and analytical, with the confidence to question data, challenge assumptions and investigate problems.
