They will be responsible for ensuring Newsweek delivers timely high-quality reporting that is accurate, fair, and conforms to accepted standards of journalism.\nThey will have a strong understanding of digital journalism and the needs of a fast-paced newsroom. They will have significant and demonstrable experience in a publishing role at a reputable news organization.\nThey will work with, edit and publish directly in Newsweek’s CMS (WordPress experience a plus). They will use new tools and technology to create, edit and review content, as required.\nThis is a temporary employee position providing maternity coverage, working remotely in the US over the next 4 months, November 1, 2026, through February 28, 2027, subject to business needs and the employee’s return.\nMonday through Friday, 11 a.m. EST to 8:00 p.m. \nKey Responsibilities:\nWork with editors and reporters in the creation of content. \nEdit copy, headlines, images, captions, graphics and video for accuracy, clarity and impact. \nTurn source material into original stories through additional reporting, expert comment and context. \nSource and prepare relevant images and video, ensuring appropriate verification, rights and credits. \nUse audience analytics to inform editorial decisions and improve content reach, engagement and performance. \nProvide feedback and guidance to reporters to improve standards. \nWork with the social, SEO and multimedia teams to optimize content. \nWork accurately under pressure and meet tight publishing deadlines. \nPerform any other reasonable duties necessary to meet the needs of the business.\nQualifications:\nSignificant relevant experience in digital editing and reporting roles. \nStrong news judgment across a range of subjects. \nProven record of editing quickly in a fast-paced environment. \nExcellent writing, rewriting and copy-editing skills. \nDemonstrable knowledge of digital tools or applications including content management systems, SEO, audience analytics and editing assistance software. \nDemonstrable knowledge of common IT tools such as the Microsoft suite. \nThis position offers $35.00 - $55.00 per hour.
