This role is being created as part of the North American transformation, establishing dedicated Canadian and US organizations under a new North American business group. The Finance Director will provide financial leadership for the Canadian business, partnering closely with the broader North American leadership team to drive financial performance and support the growth and development of the Canadian organization\nGETTING TO KNOW THE POSITION\nOne of the strategic orientations that Nexans pursues consists in capturing growth and differentiating its offer by escalading the value chain from the production of cables towards the provision of innovative cable systems and services and solutions to better address the current and future needs of our partners and customers.\nThe Finance Director, Canada is responsible for driving the financial performance of the Canadian Business Unit in alignment with NAM objectives. The role oversees financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and controls, while ensuring compliance with Group policies and supporting sound business decisions. The Finance Director also leads and develops the Canadian finance team, partnering with the business to optimize financial performance and resources.\n\nHOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT\nFinancial Strategy & Business Performance\nDirects and oversees the financial activities of the Canadian organization, ensuring strong financial performance, sound governance, and alignment with Nexans Group and North American objectives.\nProvides strategic financial leadership and insight to support business decisions, including investments, acquisitions, divestitures, capital allocation, pension matters, and other strategic initiatives.\nProvides timely and accurate financial analysis, reporting, forecasts, and business indicators to support decision-making by Canadian and North American senior management, Nexans Corporate, and COMEX.\nActs as a strategic business partner to the leadership team and operational functions, providing financial expertise and challenging assumptions to support profitable and sustainable growth.\nMonitors business and market trends, including relevant competitor and economic developments, and provides financial insights to support the organization's positioning and decision-making.\nProvides financial advice and support in the negotiation and review of strategic commercial contracts and agreements, including contracts with significant financial, commodity, or foreign exchange exposure.\nPlanning, Budgeting & Forecasting\nLeads the annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and Group requirements.\nContinually improves the budgeting and forecasting process by strengthening financial discipline and developing the financial understanding of department and business leaders.\nOversees the monitoring of financial performance against budget, forecast, and business objectives, identifying risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.\nProvides financial analysis and recommendations to support cost optimization and improve overall business performance.\nFinancial Reporting & Governance\nDefines and oversees the monthly consolidated reporting process, including sales, P&L, MMR, and other key financial indicators for the Canadian organization and North American Business Group.\nEnsures the timely and accurate preparation and consolidation of financial reports, management analysis, forecasts, and financial outlooks.\nEnsures compliance with applicable accounting standards, Group policies, IFRS, and Canadian accounting and regulatory requirements.\nEstablishes, implements, and maintains appropriate financial policies, procedures, systems, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity and reliability of financial information.\nRepresents Finance in internal and external audits and ensures timely follow-up and resolution of audit findings.\nCash, Treasury, Tax & Risk Management\nDevelops and implements strategies to optimize cash flow, working capital, liquidity, and overall financial performance.\nOversees treasury activities, banking relationships, credit policies, and other areas impacting the organization's cash position and financial resilience.\nEnsures, in coordination with Nexans Corporate and relevant internal stakeholders, compliance with applicable Canadian tax requirements and monitors changes in legislation that may impact the business.\nIdentifies, assesses, and manages key financial and business risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation measures and controls are in place.\nProvides financial guidance on matters involving foreign exchange, commodity exposure, financing, and other financial risks, as applicable.\nFinance Transformation & Continuous Improvement\nLeads initiatives to optimize financial processes, strengthen cost control, improve reporting efficiency, and increase the automation and digitalization of Finance activities.\nDrives continuous improvement of Finance systems, processes, and controls to improve the overall efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of financial operations.\nEnsures that Finance policies, procedures, and systems evolve in line with the organization's changing business needs and Group requirements.\nFinance Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness\nLeads and develops the Finance organization, ensuring appropriate capabilities, performance, succession, and professional development to support the organization's financial objectives.\nContinuously assesses the effectiveness and organizational structure of the Finance function and implements improvements to enhance efficiency and business support.\nPromotes a strong culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, compliance, and business partnership within the Finance organization.\nNorth American & Group Collaboration\nSupports and contributes to North American strategic initiatives and synergies, including cross-functional initiatives defined as NAM priorities.\nCollaborates closely with Nexans Corporate, North American leadership, and other Finance leaders to ensure alignment of financial strategies, reporting, controls, and business priorities.\nProvides financial support and analysis for major North American and Group initiatives, ensuring appropriate financial evaluation, risk assessment, and follow-up.\nEnsures effective communication of financial performance, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders.\nYou will be expected to:\nMaximize the Canadian BU profits through an adequate administration of expenses, costs, placement of funds and use of resources.\nDeliver accurate and timely financial reporting, forecasts, and insights to support business decisions.\nImprove financial performance through strong planning, cost control, and working capital management.\nEnsure compliance with Nexans policies, accounting standards, internal systems, and business support.\nWHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE ?\nKEY COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS\nProfessional degree in Accounting and/or related fields\nPostgraduate degree / Master Finance or MBA\nMinimum 7 years of experience directing financial areas, or developing financial processes\nKnowledge of IFRS accounting standards\nKnowledge in the SAP/BI System\nFinancial
