Experience within the wire and cable industry is strongly preferred.\nThe Machine Operator is responsible for safely setting up, operating, and monitoring equipment, completing efficient changeovers, and ensuring finished products meet all applicable manufacturing instructions and quality specifications.\nWork Location & Flexibility\nElectro Cables operates two manufacturing facilities in Trenton, Ontario-Sidney Street and Riverside Drive.\nThe successful candidate will be assigned to a specific machine within a department at one of our Trenton plants. This will be their regular work location. Management reserves the right to reassign the employee to another machine, department, or either the Sidney Street or Riverside Drive plant if operational requirements make a change necessary.\nCandidates must have reliable transportation, as public transit in Trenton is limited and may not accommodate all shift schedules.\nThis position is currently open and available.\nCompensation\nThe starting wage for this position is $22.66 per hour.\nWage progression is based on the role and department assigned, with rates ranging up to $29.35 per hour following successful completion of training and probationary requirements.\nPlacement into a specific machine role and the applicable wage progression will be determined based on operational needs and the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and demonstrated abilities. Candidates whose experience may be better suited to another machine operator position may also be considered for other current openings based on their qualifications and our operational needs. Not all machine roles reach the maximum rate.\nWork Schedule\nThis position operates on a rotating shift schedule, which may include:\nDays\n\nAfternoons\n\nMidnights\n\nShifts are generally scheduled Monday to Friday; however, flexibility is required based on operational needs.\nKey Responsibilities\nSet up, operate, and monitor machines and related equipment\n\nMonitor machine controls and operating conditions throughout the production process\n\nPerform product and material changeovers safely and efficiently\n\nProduce wire and cable products according to manufacturing instructions and specifications\n\nMonitor product quality and make adjustments within established operating procedures\n\nIdentify equipment or quality issues and assist with basic troubleshooting\n\nPerform measurements using tools such as calipers and micrometers\n\nComplete production documentation and reporting accurately\n\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work area\n\nComply with all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations\n\nSupport continuous improvement and production-efficiency initiatives\n\nPerform other duties as assigned to support operational requirements\n\nQualifications\nPrevious experience operating equipment in a manufacturing environment is required\n\nPrevious experience in wire and cable manufacturing is strongly preferred\n\nExperience completing machine setups and product changeovers\n\nStrong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial equipment\n\nKnowledge of measurement tools, including calipers and micrometers\n\nStrong attention to detail, quality, and accuracy\n\nBasic computer skills\n\nStrong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills\n\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\n\nReliable, dependable, and committed to workplace health and safety\n\nGrade 12 diploma or equivalent\n\nAbout Nexans / Electro Cables\nElectro Cables, a Nexans company, is part of a global organization focused on electrifying the future.
