This role combines people leadership, technical expertise, and business partnership to ensure data solutions are reliable, scalable, and aligned with organizational priorities.\nThe Lead, Data Engineer remains hands-on technically while guiding the work of the team and partnering with Finance, Data & Analytics, and other business leaders to translate business needs into practical data solutions.\nResponsibilities\nTeam Leadership & Delivery\nLead, mentor, and develop the Data Engineering team, establishing clear expectations for performance, quality, and ownership.\nManage team priorities, workload, and delivery in alignment with broader business objectives.\nProvide technical guidance and oversight for engineering work, including architecture, design, and production readiness.\nServe as an escalation point for complex technical, data quality, and delivery challenges.\nData Engineering & Architecture\nDesign, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines, integrations, warehouses, and supporting infrastructure.\nEstablish and maintain engineering standards for data architecture, modeling, reliability, performance, and maintainability.\nRemain hands-on in development and resolution of complex or business-critical technical issues.\nDrive improvements to automation, tooling, monitoring, and engineering practices that strengthen the data environment.\nStrategy & Business Partnership\nEstablish technical direction and priorities for Data Engineering in alignment with organizational objectives.\nPartner with Finance and other business and technical stakeholders to translate data needs into effective solutions.\nEvaluate technologies, processes, and architectural approaches that improve the organization's ability to use and scale data.\nCommunicate technical strategy, risks, recommendations, and infrastructure needs to technical and business leadership.\nAdditional Expectations\nDemonstrates and promotes the company's Impact Behaviors in all interactions and decision-making.\nDesign\nOwnership\nFirst Team\nPerformance\n\nMaintains a professional, collaborative, and client-focused approach while supporting team and organizational objectives.\nPerforms other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned to meet business needs.\nQualifications\nRequired\n7+ years of related data engineering experience, including 2+ years leading, supervising, or providing technical direction to others.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, a related discipline, equivalent technical training, or equivalent professional experience.\nStrong experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data warehouses, and related infrastructure.\nAdvanced SQL skills and strong programming experience with Python, Java, Scala, or a comparable language.\nStrong understanding of data architecture, modeling, scalability, performance, reliability, and data quality practices.\nExperience with modern cloud data platforms, orchestration frameworks, and data processing technologies.\nDemonstrated ability to remain hands-on technically while leading and developing a team.\nStrong business acumen with the ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.\nPreferred\nExperience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.\nExperience with orchestration and transformation tools such as Airflow, dbt, or similar technologies.\nExperience with distributed or streaming data technologies such as Kafka or Spark.\nExperience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices for data environments.\nExperience building, scaling, or maturing a Data Engineering function. \nKey Performance Indicators\nReliability and availability of critical data pipelines and infrastructure.\nTimeliness and quality of Data Engineering deliverables.\nData quality and reduction of recurring production issues.\nProgress against Data Engineering roadmap and priorities.\nTeam performance, development, and delivery effectiveness.\nEffectiveness of data solutions in supporting business and stakeholder needs.\nWork Environment\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.
