We’re looking for someone who loves Linux, takes pride in a well-built and well-secured server, is proactive, goal oriented and possesses excellent problem solving skills.\nFrom racking hardware in our data centres to automating fleets of servers with Ansible, no two days are the same. an engineer ready to step up, there’s plenty of room to grow here.\nAn average day may include any or all of the following tasks:\nAdministering, maintaining, securing and provisioning our fleet of Linux servers (RHEL/AlmaLinux)\nManaging server configuration and deployments at scale with Ansible\nLooking after our hypervisors and the virtual machines that run on them\nManaging, maintaining and replacing hardware in our data centres\nKeeping our cPanel and WHM shared hosting servers fast, stable and secure\nManaging and tuning web servers, including Apache, LiteSpeed, Nginx and Caddy\nMaintaining database clusters such as MariaDB/Galera, ensuring they stay healthy, replicated and backed up\nManaging and supporting our containerised environments\nConfiguring and troubleshooting networks and firewalls\nRunning and maintaining our email servers\nWriting Bash and Python scripts to automate the boring stuff\nTaking your turn on our on-call roster, and helping get things back online quickly when the unexpected happens\nThe right person (is it you?)\nHas three or more years’ experience administering Linux servers in a production environment, ideally RHEL or AlmaLinux (we’ll take home lab and self-taught experience into consideration as well)\nIs confident managing servers with Ansible, and believes anything done twice should be automated\nHas hands-on experience with hypervisors and virtual machine management\nIs comfortable working with physical server and data centre hardware\nHas administered cPanel and WHM hosting servers\nKnows their way around Apache, LiteSpeed, Nginx and/or Caddy, and can diagnose a misbehaving web server\nHas experience managing containerised applications\nHas a good understanding of networking and firewalls\nCan write and maintain scripts in Bash and Python\nHas a strong understanding of system security and hardening principles\nIs calm and methodical under pressure\nIs happy to be part of an on-call roster\nHas excellent written and verbal communication skills, and is keen to share knowledge with the team\nHandy things to have (or are able to learn)\nExperience deploying containerised environments from the ground up\nExperience managing database clusters such as MariaDB/Galera\nExperience managing email platforms and mail transfer agents (MTAs), including spam filtering\nExperience with Ceph or other distributed storage\nFamiliarity with DevOps tooling, such as CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and infrastructure as code\nExperience managing email servers and spam filtering
