We are looking for a strong forecaster, effective communicator, and trusted community presence who thrives during severe weather coverage and understands the importance of serving audiences wherever they consume content.\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities\n· Produces and presents weather reports for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging, and meaningful to news consumers.\n· Contributes content across broadcast, digital, streaming, mobile, and social media platforms.\n· Creates and publishes weather-related content for digital and social platforms, including capturing and editing video using mobile and digital content creation tools.\n· Works closely with the weather team to develop comprehensive weather coverage and innovative storytelling opportunities.\n· Uses social media and other audience engagement tools to connect with viewers and provide timely weather information.\n· Writes digital content detailing local forecasts, weather trends, and significant weather events.\n· Collaborates with newsroom and digital teams to develop weather-related enterprise stories and special coverage.\n· Demonstrates teamwork, professionalism, adaptability, and a commitment to serving the community.\n· Ensures all weather content meets company standards for journalistic integrity, accuracy, and production quality.\n· Writes and delivers weather stories in a clear, concise, and conversational manner.\n· Responds to breaking and severe weather events and other urgent newsroom situations as required.\n· Participates in station-sponsored community events, public appearances, and promotional activities.\n· Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.\nRequired Qualifications\n· Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a closely related field.\n· Minimum three years of on-air broadcast meteorology experience.\n· Proven expertise in severe-weather forecasting and live coverage.\n· Strong understanding of meteorology and a proven track record of accurate forecasting across a variety of weather conditions and seasons.\n· Exceptional communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.\n· Strong digital skills and an understanding of multiplatform weather coverage.\n· Experience creating content for broadcast, streaming, web, mobile, and social platforms.\n· Ability to ad lib effectively during breaking weather situations.\n· Ability to prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.\n· Valid driver's license with a good driving record.\nPreferred Qualifications\n· AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation preferred, with a commitment to obtaining certification if not already held.\n· National Weather Association certification a plus.\n· Experience contributing to streaming and digital-first content strategies.\nWhy FOX4?\nKansas City offers some of the nation's most challenging and exciting weather.
