This role is critical for managing public health data exchange processes and ensuring reliable integration between external organizations, DPH, and CDC systems. This role can be done remotely, with possible on-site visits to the Chicago area. \n\nJob Responsibilities\n\nSupport and troubleshoot existing .NET applications and Windows-based infrastructure.\n\nDevelop and maintain scripts and tools using PowerShell and SQL.\n\nAssist in planning and guiding modernization efforts for legacy systems and data integration.\n\nEvaluate and recommend modern technologies and tools for disease surveillance and data infrastructure.\n\nCollaborate with internal teams to assess architecture and recommend improvements.\n\nProvide documentation and knowledge transfer to internal staff.\n\nManage and optimize data exchange processes between external organizations, DPH, and CDC.\n\nConfigure, monitor, and troubleshoot interfaces using the Rhapsody Integration Engine.\n\nMaintain and enhance HL7 message routing, transformations, and mappings.\n\nTroubleshoot and maintain the NEDSS Base System (NBS).\n\nImplement upgrades and new functionality/modules.\n\nMaintain ancillary systems such as NBS Utilities and the ELR data store.\n\nJob Requirements\n\nExtensive experience with Rhapsody Integration Engine (interface development, message transformation, troubleshooting).\n\nStrong SQL development and troubleshooting skills\n\nBachelors Degree in IT and/or strong related IT experience, including requirements analysis and programming\n\nFamiliarity with Oracle PL/SQL.\n\nProficient in C# and .NET Framework.\n\nWindows Server administration and IIS configuration.\n\nPowerShell scripting for automation and maintenance.\n\nAbility to contribute to planning and architectural discussions for system modernization.\n\nExperience evaluating and recommending modern technologies and tools for data systems.\n\nAbility to support public health data exchange systems and workflows.\n\nNice to Have:\n\nFamiliarity with HL7 or FHIR standards.\n\nExperience using TFS (Team Foundation Server).\n\nKnowledge of NBS/NEDSS systems and workflows.\n\nExperience with SMTP and SFTP protocols.\n\nUnderstanding of public health messaging vocabularies and clinical coding systems (LOINC,
