This role is responsible for overseeing the full software development lifecycle for a large API solution and multiple interoperability products and platforms across a variety of technology stacks and deployment models. The Director will drive engineering strategy, operational performance, and team development in a matrixed environment while continuously improving developer experience, advancing AI-native engineering practices, and enabling scalable interoperability solutions across the enterprise.Lead engineering strategy and technical execution for the interoperability portfolio by defining technology roadmaps, architecture standards, and development practices aligned to business objectives, scalability requirements, and long-term platform goals.\nOversee the full software development lifecycle for a large API solution and multiple interoperability products and platforms across varied technology stacks and deployment models.\nBuild, lead, and develop high-performing engineering teams by recruiting, mentoring, coaching, and retaining managers and individual contributors while fostering accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.\nEstablish and mature the engineering operating model by directing resource planning, prioritization, capacity management, delivery governance, risk management, and support processes.\nOversee software quality, security, and regulatory compliance to ensure engineering practices support healthcare industry standards and applicable requirements.\nPartner with Product Management, Enterprise Architecture, Engineering leadership, Customer Support leadership, and other cross-functional stakeholders to define priorities, advance shared capabilities, and deliver solutions that support enterprise objectives.\nCollaborate with senior leadership to define and monitor metrics that measure team outcomes, delivery health, organizational maturity, and business impact.\nDrive technical transformation initiatives, including self-service interoperability tooling, developer experience improvements, and AI-native engineering practices across the Interop organization.\nPartner with Customer Support leadership to define and refine support policies, procedures, and escalation practices to ensure effective coverage across U.S. and India time zones.\nPerform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.\nEducation Required:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.\nExperience Required:\n10 years of experience in Software Engineering.\n5+ years of leadership experience in engineering or technical management roles within Healthcare IT.\nExperience in the healthcare IT industry, with knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system and applicable regulatory requirements.\nExperience with multi-team planning and coordination using the Scaled Agile Framework or a similar operating model.\nExperience working with Scrum, Kanban, or similar agile delivery methodologies.\nExperience managing multiple teams across different technology stacks and deployment models.\nOr, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:\nKnowledge of: Software development lifecycle principles, engineering delivery models, and modern software engineering practices, including AI-enabled and AI-native approaches. Software quality, security, and compliance practices in a healthcare technology environment. Programming languages, tools, and technologies commonly used in web application development. APIs, event-driven architectures, shared services platforms, and integration patterns. Cloud environments, SaaS delivery models, and software platform economics. Healthcare interoperability concepts, industry standards, and regulatory considerations. Agile delivery methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, and scaled agile practices. Performance management, team development, organizational maturity, and operating model design.\nSkill in: Leadership and people management, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, and team development. Strategic planning, prioritization, and execution in a matrixed organization. Communication and collaboration with senior leaders, technical peers, product partners, and distributed teams. Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting. Project and program management in the context of software development delivery. Influencing cross-functional stakeholders and driving alignment across multiple teams. Translating technical needs into actionable delivery plans and measurable outcomes.\nAbility to: Lead high-performing engineering teams and manage multiple priorities across several concurrent development efforts. Drive technical strategy while balancing delivery, quality, security, and regulatory requirements. Work effectively in a complex, matrixed environment with teams across the U.S. and India. Assess team maturity and create plans to strengthen capability and performance. Partner with leaders across Engineering, Product, Enterprise Architecture, and other functions to deliver shared outcomes. Adapt to shifting priorities and demands in a deadline-driven environment.
