We believe there is much more to an internet company than just delivering cost-effective internet solutions; we believe in delivering an overall customer experience that our competitors simply cannot match.\nThe horizontal directional drill operator is responsible for drilling safety, drill machine operation, transportation of the drill machine, and all locate equipment used for drilling.Essential Functions:\nReasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nResponsible for the safe operation of the drilling machine\nEnsuring that all employees stay clear of the rotating parts as well as any pinch points or blind spots while moving the drill (a spotter must be used when moving the drill).\nResponsible for flagging and covering any open pits or potholes during the drilling operation\nOpen holes must be buried or covered and secure before the end of each shift.\nResponsible for the safe loading & unloading of the machine to include chain binding for drill transportation. \nResponsible for the drill locating equipment (Drill stem transmitter & handheld receiver unit) \nMaintain daily reporting required for the site.\nMaintain the company vehicle in working order and report any issues.\nImplement and follow through with job instructions provided by leadership.\nEnsure safety and quality control requirements at your sites and with your crew.\nCheck to ensure all paperwork is uploaded or turned in to the proper people or program.\nCoordinate with landowners for site related activities and maintain a good working relationship.\nEnsure that drill equipment is in operational condition at all time.\nInspect completed work daily to ensure all work is done professionally to the Nextlink standard.\nAnalyzing situations accurately and adopt an appropriate course of action.\nCommunicating orally and in writing.\nOther duties as assigned\nSkills:\n· Work with basic hand tools\n· Ability to lift/pull heavy objects\n· Ability to read and understand plat drawings and bore profiles\n· Comfortable with working in the outdoor elements through all seasons\n· Must be team-oriented and safety conscious\n· Must be able to pass on site drilling training/ testing\nMust pass a drug screening test and a criminal background check\nMust be able to obtain a DOT Medical Card\nMust have a valid Class A driver’s license with a safe/acceptable driving record in compliance with company policy\nMust be able to adapt in a high stress and fast paced environment\nEducation and Experience:\nHigh school diploma or GED equivalent required \nRecent construction experience working in outdoor elements through all seasons\nJob Classification:\nField Operations: Fiber Construction\nNon-Exempt\nWork Environment/Hazards:\nWorking in outdoor elements such as cold, hot, precipitation and wind\nIn proximity of heavy machinery and moving vehicles\nUse of heavy machinery\nHigh noise level\nUse of PPE\nPhysical Demands\nStationary position for 8-10 hours a day \nFrequently moving, transporting, positioning objects of 50 pounds or more \nAscending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffoldings, ramps. \nFrequently required to use hand and power tools\nWorking Hours/Days\nMonday through Friday (possible weekends)\nFull Time\nOvertime as needed \nTravel Requirements\n25% Travel Required\nOvernight as needed\nAffirmative Action (AAP/EEO Statement):\nNextlink is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
